Minecraft has been at the top of the gaming industry for the past decade, becoming one of the best-selling games of all time. Minecraft has also stayed largely relevant over that period, mostly due to consistent updates, the growth of Minecraft content creators, and even the nature of the game itself, allowing its players to be unbound by rules if they don't want any.

Even though Minecraft updates don't change the core fundamentals of the game, they introduce new things for players to find and experience, which keeps gameplay fresh and keeps the audience engaged. YouTubers like Dream and even PewDiePie also greatly contributed to the growth of Minecraft in recent years, helping to keep the game relevant and the player base healthy.

When Minecraft Live 2020 happened in October of last year, the Caves and Cliffs update (1.17) was revealed by Mojang to be coming out sometime in the middle of this year (2021). Since the announcement, fans have been very excited for everything this new Minecraft update has in store for players. Mojang haven't released much, but have revealed a vague description of what players should expect in the summer.

What's Coming In Minecraft's Next Update

As the title says, the next Minecraft update will focus on caves and cliffs, and improving them to make the experience more enjoyable when mining or adventuring throughout the surface and underground. Lush Caves is a brand new biome that will be added into Minecraft, and it has fans extremely excited to explore the new and improved cave systems.

An interesting thing about the 1.17 update is that players were able to vote on their favorite mob to be added to Minecraft. The options that players could vote on were the Glow Squid, the Icologer, and the Moobloom. The Moobloom was like a yellow Mooshroom cow, while the Icologer was essentially a blue evoker. The Glow Squid is exactly what the name suggests, an underwater glowing squid.

The majority of players voted on the Glow Squid in the poll, meaning that will be the newest mob added to Minecraft. However, summertime is still quite a bit away, so players will have to wait a while before being able to experience all of the new features the Caves and Cliffs update has to offer. However, once it finally does come out later this year, players will be able to check out new ores, the Warden, new redstone mechanics, crystals, and even a brand new archaeology system. Until then, Minecraft players should be getting ready by playing on their own survival world on the current version.
