Batman has a new DLC coming to Minecraft which is full of Gotham City quests, villains, gadgets, sidekicks, and even the Batmobile. The DLC pack will allow players to become a blocky-stylized version of the Caped Crusader himself while exploring familiar sites around Gotham City and unraveling evil plots from his nemeses. While a price has not been announced at this time, there is a free Batman-style cap cosmetic item available for all Minecraft players.
The announcement of this DLC came in a broadcast with other Minecraft news such as information on the biomes and mobs coming in Minecraft 1.20. The short footage of the Batman DLC shows Batman and his friends traversing Gotham City with iconic locations such as Arkham Asylum, the Batcave, and the Gotham City Police Department while utilizing all the delightful high-tech gadgets Batman is known for.
During the Minecraft Live 2022 broadcast event which was streamed on the official Minecraft YouTube channel, DC Comics publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee announced the Batman DLC before showing the debut of the short trailer. While the release date was not announced during the presentation, Minecraft followed up the event on Twitter by stating in a tweet that the DLC will be available on October 18, 2022.
Villains Included In Minecraft Batman DLC
The short trailer for the Minecraft Batman DLC shows hints of an expansive collection of content that makes this DLC pack essentially a game in itself, proving that this is much more than just a few custom Minecraft skins and some buildings. Players can become Batman to fight crime in his familiar world. The expansive Gotham City is detailed for players to play in as they explore. The villains included in Minecraft's Batman DLC are:
- The Joker
- Harley Quinn
- Poison Ivy
- The Penguin
- The Riddler (who fills the world with puzzles to solve)
Batman characters have appeared in Minecraft before thanks to fans of the hero being able to utilize the game's creative tools to recreate them. However, this is the first time that Batman has made an appearance within the Minecraft world in any official capacity. Minecraft has released previous DLC content which made other well-known characters playable, such as the well-received SpongeBob Squarepants DLC from a few months ago.
This fun DLC pack appears to be loaded with Batman goodies to enjoy. Even Minecraft fans who are not wanting to purchase the full DLC can get in on the action with a free Batman-style hat cosmetic item available for all players in the dressing room. Players can enjoy fighting alongside friends like Robin and Batgirl while saving the blocky Gotham City when Minecraft's Batman DLC goes live.
