Since 2011, Minecraft has captivated players with its open-world environments and randomly generated maps. Players must gather and craft a variety of materials if they wish to survive, and two of the rarest (but best) materials in the entire game come from the Nether: Ancient Debris and Netherite. Here's what players should know about each one.

Ancient Debris and Netherite may be two of the rarest materials in the game, but they're also not easy to reach. They're only found in the Nether, a hell-like underworld full of treacherous lava and hostile enemies. An update last year added Nether biomes, giving players some new landscapes and environments to explore. Even though the biomes give the Nether more variety, it's still not exactly the most hospitable environment, so players will need to be cautious when exploring there.

Netherite has quickly become one of the best resources in Minecraft. It's fire resistant and has the highest blast resistance in the game. Players frequently load up on Netherite in order to craft Netherite tools, improve Diamond gear, and make other useful items. In order to create Netherite tools themselves, players will first have to gather Ancient Debris. Like most aspects of Minecraft, this is completely cyclical - so it gets easier the more players gather and craft these materials from the Nether.

How Ancient Debris & Netherite Work In Minecraft

Minecraft Netherite

The process of getting Netherite is pretty straightforward, even though it takes several steps. First, players will have to find Ancient Debris, an incredibly rare ore that's found in the Nether. It's immune to normal blasts and will float on lava once broken apart. Ancient Debris will appear as mineral veins and must be mined with a Netherite or Diamond pickaxe.

With enough Ancient Debris, players can start smelting it with a Furnace to create Netherite Scraps. Gold Ingots and Netherite Scraps will become Netherite Ingots. At a Smithing Table, players will need to pair the Netherite Scraps with a Diamond tool in order to upgrade it to a Netherite tool. This same process can be used to upgrade Diamond weapons and armor into Netherite pieces as well. And since the Nether update makes it more accessible than ever in Minecraft, as long as players are cautious and prepared, they shouldn't have too much of a problem gathering the necessary materials.

Ancient Debris is the basis for Netherite tools, so players will want to load up on a lot of it. This way, they can craft their own Netherite tools, weapons, and gear. These are some of the best tools and equipment in Minecraft, and it definitely makes the Nether worth exploring.
