There were a lot of things that made The Mindy Project such a delightful comedy. Obviously, Mindy Kaling and her amazing supporting cast were the main reason to tune in. But the thing that made audiences want to keep watching was Mindy's fun and compelling search for love.

As with most sitcom protagonists, Mindy found herself in a lot of relationships over the course of the show's six-season run. Some were long, some were short. Some were good, some were not so good. Her love life might not have always been pretty but it was always entertaining. Here are the best and worst boyfriends from The Mindy Project.

Worst: Graham

Despite being a successful and independent professional herself, Mindy has occasionally found herself involved with grown men who act like children. Clearly, the most immature one on her dating roster was Graham (Timothy Olyphant), the middle-aged skater boy.

Not only is skateboarding not a real job, but it's also a strange thing to base your whole life around. Graham is an adrenaline-chasing, dim-witted man-child, and Mindy knows it. She memorably tells him "My body is very attracted to your body, but when you speak my brain gets angry." Needless to say, they didn't have much in common.

Best: Sam

Everyone remembers their first childhood romance. It most cases, you grow as a person and realize that person what not the actual love of your life. However, in Mindy's case, it turned out to be a genuinely good relationship when Sam (Seth Rogen) comes back into her life.

Sam is a soldier who is about to ship out when the two rekindle their old flame. They both know it won't last long, but that doesn't stop them from being great together, albeit for a short time. He is a sweet, funny guy and the two shared wonderful chemistry together.

Worst: Brendan

Seeing as Mindy and Brendan (Mark Duplass) started out as enemies in business, that probably should have been a hint that their romantic relationship was not going to work out. Brandan is a midwife while Mindy is an obstetrician. This meant they have fundamental differences and tried to sabotage each other on occasion.

Brandan proves to be a successful seducer, causing Mindy to temporarily overlook their differences. However, his superiority complex is grating and condescending. He only gets worse as time goes on and it's hard to see what Mindy likes about him at all.

Best: Cliff

As with most of Mindy's relationships, things start off rocky between she and Cliff (Glenn Howerton). Still, they seem drawn to each other over time and end up embarking on a successful relationship after overcoming a number of obstacles.

Cliff is a lawyer and one of the most successful and stable men Mindy has been involved with. Once their relationship is established, he seems to really want to make it work. He is funny, charming, and really cares for Mindy. She might have made a mistake letting him go.

Worst: Dennis

It's always fun to see The Office reunions of this show. There have been a few memorable ones like with Ellie Kemper and BJ Novak, but when Ed Helms shows up as Dennis, it doesn't exactly recapture the fun on that classic show.

In Dennis' defense, he does make a memorable entrance, falling down an entire flight of stairs. Unfortunately, that's about as interesting as the character gets. He is just a very dull guy filled with lame jokes. There just isn't anything there for Mindy or the audience to want to see more of him.

Best: Ben

Ben and Mindy talking outside on The Mindy Project

Ben (Bryan Greenberg) was one of the most serious boyfriends Mindy ever had. So serious, in fact, that she ended up marrying him. While Ben is actually a really dull character compared to the more entertaining men Mindy has been involved with, he was a good romantic partner for her.

Ben is a nurse, so their careers are at least a little more in-line than with some other boyfriends. He is a great father to his daughter from his first marriage and is very much in love with Mindy. He wants to make their relationship work probably even more than Mindy does, which led to the end of their marriage.

Worst: Dr. Jeremy Reed

Jeremy standing in front of a white board on The Mindy Project

Mindy is no stranger to dating within the workplace, as she has been involved with almost every available male colleague. However, Dr. Jeremy Reed (Ed Weeks) is thankfully one of the quicker ones. Jeremy is actually a great major character on the show, but as a boyfriend for Mindy, he was all wrong.

Jeremy is introduced as a charming womanizer who quickly sweeps Mindy off her feet. But being with a man like him didn't feel right for the character of Mindy. In fact, once they broke up early in the series, Jeremy became a completely different and more likable character.

Best: Casey

Casey (Anders Holms) is yet another character Mindy almost chose to spend the rest of her life with. The two had a very serious relationship and eventually got engaged. Honestly, it wouldn't have been so bad if they ended up together.

Casey is one of the more entertaining boyfriends Mindy has in the series. He is a fun-loving, ambitious, and motivated guy who just gets along really well with Mindy. They are both smart, funny, and weird. In fact, the show had to start coming up with strange problems for him just to distract from the fact that he seemed like the right match.

Worst: Josh Daniels

For quite a while, Josh (Tommy Dewey) seemed like the perfect guy for Mindy. He was successful, handsome, and very romantic, so we should have known there was much more than meets the eye.

Just as they are getting really serious, Mindy discovers that Josh has been seeing another woman behind her back. To make things even worse, Mindy soon finds out that she is actually the other woman in this case. If that weren't enough, Josh later reveals that he is a drug addict and admits to being high for most of their relationship.

Best: Dr. Danny Castellano

Danny (Chris Messina) is the one, there's no question at all. Again, this is another one of Mindy's relationships that has a rough start. They are openly antagonistic to each other in the workplace and just seem to be total opposites. Of course, those opposites eventually attracted, and the rest is history.

Danny is the first man Mindy married, the father of her child, and, thankfully, the man she ends up with forever. Their bickering and differences only make them all the more ideal, as they complete each other perfectly.
