Jim and Dwight may have forgotten Kelly Kapoor’s birthday during season 5 of The Office, but no one is forgetting Mindy Kaling’s birthday this year. The American version of The Office ran for nine seasons on NBC from 2005 to 2013. The mockumentary sitcom won five Primetime Emmys throughout its run, and since then, its popularity has only grown thanks to streaming services, such as Netflix and Peacock. The hit television series follows the employees at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton branch in Pennsylvania.

The Office features an ensemble cast, including Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms, Kaling, and more. Although it has been eight years since the show’s last season aired, the cast has maintained its close bond throughout the years. Just last year, Krasinski recruited his castmates via Zoom to perform the dance routine from Jim and Pam’s wedding for two of The Office’s biggest fans who had just said “I do” on that same Zoom call.

Kaling was one of the cast members dancing in celebration of the couple’s wedding, and now she’s celebrating her birthday on Instagram with a scene from The Office. The scene she posted is from the episode, “Lecture Circuit: Part 1,” which Kaling wrote. In the scene, Kaling’s character Kelly is upset with Jim (Krasinski) and Dwight (Wilson) because they didn’t remember her birthday. Jim and Dwight then plan Kelly’s office birthday party, which features balloons with barely any air, an unenthusiastic sign, and a cake with a misspelling. Despite all of that, Kelly loves the party because she gets to nap for an hour at work. Angela Kinsey, who played Angela Martin on The Office, wished Kaling a happy birthday in the comments section of the Instagram post as well. Kaling’s entire post can be viewed below:

Kaling’s career has skyrocketed since The Office. She has gone on to create and star in her own comedy television series, The Mindy Project, in which she played an Ob/Gyn from 2012 to 2017. Kaling has also appeared in various other shows and movies, including The Morning Show and Ocean’s Eight. Additionally, Kaling co-created Netflix’s Never Have I Ever alongside Lang Fisher, which is based on Kaling’s childhood.

Kaling is clearly busy and so are her co-stars from The Office, but that isn’t stopping the demand for an official in-person reunion, especially now that the Friends reunion has finally come out. Kaling has even said that a reboot of The Office “could be great” as long as the right people are involved. Whether The Office gets an unscripted special resembling the Friends reunion, or it gets rebooted like Sex and the City, the show’s most loyal fans would tune in regardless.
