Before he became associated with his fan-favorite Gilmore Girls character Jess Mariano, Milo Ventimiglia appeared in one episode of the Saved By The Bell spin-off, The New Class. Although only two original characters were part of this series, including Screech Powers (Dustin Diamond) and Richard Belding (Dennis Hawkins), a few now-famous stars had small roles, including Gabrielle Union and James Marsden. These characters may not have been as fleshed out as the main cast, but they still held significance for the show's relatable high school plotlines.

Around the time of his Saved By The Bell: The New Class role, Ventimiglia appeared on other teen series The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air and Sabrina The Teenage Witch, and a few years later, played a boarding school student on the short-lived The Opposite Sex. However, Milo Ventimiglia's best-rated performances remain his romantic leads, from Jess to Jack Pearson on This Is Us. The actor's Saved By The Bell role may be brief, but it shows his talent for emotional storylines.

Milo Ventimiglia Played Greg On Saved By The Bell: The New Class

Milo Ventimiglia as Greg on Saved By The Bell: The New Class

Milo Ventimiglia played Greg in season 4, episode 13, "The Final Curtain," a character who volunteers at a hospital, where Eric Little (Anthony Harrell) is spending time. Since the actor is known for meatier roles and for being given compelling and complete character arcs, it's surprising to see Ventimiglia in such a brief capacity. However, this made sense given that this was one of his first TV appearances.

Greg Is Part Of A Moving Plotline When Eric’s Friend Passes Away

Eric Little on Saved By The Bell: The New Class

Greg is as likable as Saved By The Bell's main characters (even though he is a brief hospital volunteer who isn't given much to do on the series). However, he's part of a moving storyline as he is working in the place where Eric becomes close to a comedian named Larry Madison (Jack Carter), who later dies. Every Saved By The Bell: The New Class episode tells a coming-of-age story, and in this case, Eric learns the tough lesson that death is a part of life.

Eric is the right character to meet Greg and Larry; he may be a high school athlete, but he also had a passion for music and he likes that Larry used to be part of a creative field. While Greg is only in a few scenes of Saved By The Bell: The New Class, Ventimiglia proved his ability to play a relatable high school-aged character, and it's compelling to watch him just a few years before he began appearing as smart Gilmore Girls character Jess Mariano.
