Will A Million Little Things season 2 happen, and when would it release if it does? In ABC's new drama, A Million Little Things, a group of Boston friends react to a friend’s suicide. Based on the saying, "Friendship isn't a big thing – it's a million little things,” the A Million Little Things TV show focuses on personal bonds and grief of those friends.

A Million Little Things stars David Giuntoli, Romany Malco, Allison Miller, James Roday, and Christina Moses as the primary series leads. In addition, Battlestar Galactica's Grace Park portrays a lawyer struggling to balance work life with home life. A Million Little Things season 1 experienced a ratings decline during its first half, only to rise up, and rather significantly, during the final seven episodes. While critics were relatively lukewarm on the first batch of episodes, A Million Little Things gained enough traction to warrant a second season.

Now that ABC’s A Million Little Things has concluded its 17-episode first season, it’s time to assess the series future on television. Here’s everything we know about A Million Little Things season 2, including its potential renewal, release date, and story.

A Million Little Things Season 2 Renewal

A Million Little Things ABC

ABC ordered A Million Little Things season 2 in February 2019. This decision was significant, as A Million Little Things was three weeks into a ratings resurgence that started with episode 11, “Secrets and Lies.” In general, network dramas are typically renewed approximately one month after the season finale; however, it’s clear that ABC executives believe they have commercial appeal with A Million Little Things. In season 1, veteran performers like Ron Livingston (Office Space), Constance Zimmer (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Drea de Matteo (The Sopranos) had recurring roles. So, it was only a matter of time before A Million Little Things season 2 became official.

This May, fans can expect a teaser clip at the annual ABC Upfront presentations in New York, along with subsequent promotions during the summer months. For season 1, A Million Little Things aired on ABC’s Thursday night schedule, first debuting in September. Based on this schedule, A Million Little Things season 2 will most likely release in late September 2019, assuming that ABC keeps the show on the Thursday night schedule.

In the A Million Little Things season 1 finale, “Goodbye,” the 9/11 narrative offers resolution for viewers but also ends with a cliffhanger in regard to Katherine Kim (Park) and Eddie Saville (Giuntoli). In addition, the life insurance beneficiary connection between Jon (Livingston) and Barbara Morgan (de Matteo) is revealed. Moving forward, the narrative focus will most likely remain on the Jon-Barbara storyline. For A Million Little Things season 2, The Walking Dead’s Chandler Riggs will reportedly join the cast, but only for two episodes. He’ll portray P.J., a character who experiences a “meaningful encounter” with Malco’s Rome.
