Former supermodel-turned-movie star Milla Jovovich will take a break from kickin' butt and instead put her scared face on in Bad Luck, a 3D horror pic from director David R. Ellis.
Bad Luck is a $30 million budgeted project that will revolve around a group of friends - including Jovovich - who find themselves in trouble when the superstitions they have always waved off as nonsense begin to come true.
If you think this description has a bit of a Final Destination vibe to it, well, I suppose it's appropriate that Ellis (who last helmed The Final Destination 3D) is onboard to direct this supernatural tale.
Ellis certainly likes to take advantage of the "stuff flying out at the audience" aspect of 3D filmmaking - Screen Rant's Paul Young said as much in his review of The Final Destination - and will surely continue to do so in Bad Luck. As the director himself put it, "I love the depth of a 3D movie - it's how we view life, and I also love the interactive experience."
The question for now is whether or not moviegoers like what Ellis throws at them in Bad Luck - hopefully more so than they did in the last Final Destination movie (see the related image below).
Jovovich will next appear on the 3D big screen in this year's zombie fest, Resident Evil: Afterlife, which will also see her husband, Paul W.S. Anderson, back in the director's chair.
So what do you think? Did you enjoy Ellis' previous 3d ventures into the horror genre? Does Bad Luck sound like something you'll be seeing in theaters? Sound off in the comments section below.
Resident Evil: Afterlife will hit regular and 3D theaters in the U.S. on September 10th, 2010. Meanwhile, Bad Luck is currently in pre-production mode and is slated to arrive in theaters in 2011.
