Warning! Spoilers for What If... Miles Morales #4 by Marvel Comics

Miles Morales is Marvel's newest Thor and with the role, the hero has one of the worst catchphrases to call his hammer Mjolnir. In What If... Miles Morales #4 by Marvel Comics, readers meet a version of the usual web-slinger who is the Prince of Asgard. However, Miles isn't sure whether he wants to become Odin's heir, leading him into conflict thanks to his trickster uncle, Loki. Before the pair depart on their journey, Morales calls Mjolnir by saying, "hammer time."

In a new What If... miniseries, Miles Morales is taking the role of different superheroes in the Marvel Universe. Other versions of Miles from across the Multiverse have chosen new paths as a hero, resulting in remixed versions of Avengers with the hero. First up, Morales traded his web-shooters for claws, becoming Marvel's new Wolverine. Next, he gained his own Gamma powers to become the Hulk. In the third issue, Miles was injected with the Super-Soldier Serum to become the Captain America of his universe. Now, Morales is becoming Thor with his own terrible catchphrase associated with his hammer, Mjolnir.

In What If... Miles Morales #4 by Yehudi Mercado, Luigi Zagaria, Chris Sotomayor, and VC's Cory Petit from Marvel Comics, a new version of Miles Morales, who is the Prince of Asgard, is introduced. The Multiversal Thor questions his future in Asgard, as it's expected Odin to announce him as the heir to the throne during festivities.  However, before the jubilee, Miles' uncle, Loki, invites him on a field trip to Jotunheim. As he gets ready to leave, Thor almost forgets his hammer, Mjolnir, calling his mighty weapon with the catchphrase "hammer time."

Miles Morales is no stranger to referencing pop culture or making quips, but the "hammer time" catchphrase is awful. Referencing M.C. Hammer in the year 2022 feels immediately outdated, even if it technically is correct, as Thor is about to have a time with his hammer, Mjolnir. But who knows? Maybe on his Earth, M.C. Hammer was one of his greatest warriors, and "hammer time" is one of the ways Morales can honor him. Although, it's more likely Morales was simply being cheeky while calling for his hammer.

The catchphrase for his weapon might be one of the worst ever, but Morales' Thor probably isn't the first or last hero to say "hammer time" while calling for Mjolnir. It's appropriate, even if it's not exactly the coolest way to call his hammer. But for someone as cool as Miles, it feels a bit cheesy - which the hero might have been going for. Readers can see Miles Morales Thor with Mjolnir in action as What If... Miles Morales #4 by Marvel Comics is in comic book stores now.
