This article contains spoilers for Moon Knight episode 6.

Moon Knight episode 6 may have subtly teased how Jane Foster becomes Mighty Thor in Thor: Love & Thunder. Hela destroyed Mjolnir in Thor: Ragnarok, but Thor's enchanted hammer is returning in the hands of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. In director Taika Waititi's upcoming MCU installment, Foster will be transformed into the Mighty Thor, sharing the power of the Odinson as she helps him in battle against Gorr the God-Butcher.

The Thor: Love & Thunder trailer showed a brief glimpse of Thor's hammer, and it's clear Mjolnir is held together by a web of energy contained within it. This seems to indicate an enchantment of some kind is active - either one associated with the power of Thor himself, or else the worthiness enchantment cast by Odin, which could easily have continued on after his death. Marvel is currently avoiding revealing any details about how Mjolnir could repair - even tie-in merchandise simply refers to it being "mysteriously" restored - but Moon Knight episode 6 may well have offered an important clue.

Moon Knight episode 6 subtly revealed exactly how its gods are powered. The season finale saw Moon Knight and Arthur Harrow go head-to-head at last, even as Khonshu battled Ammit as well. Surprisingly, Ammit was much more powerful than Khonshu - and a single line of dialogue explained why. Ammit leers, "Oh, Khonshu, for a god, you are low on faith," - a nod to a classic fantasy trope where the gods are essentially in a symbiotic relationship with humans, empowered by their faith. The same is presumably true of Asgardian gods, too, making sense of Thor: Ragnarok's claim that Asgard is not a place but a people. If that is the case, then it is entirely possible faith is the power that has restored Mjolnir.

Natalie Portman as Jane Foster in Thor: Love & Thunder

In the comics, Jane Foster was deemed worthy because she believed the universe needed Thor - and she was willing to pay a terrible price to ensure the Nine Realms had their champion - as Jane had been diagnosed with cancer. Every time she transformed into Thor, the magic of the transformation undid the effect of chemotherapy, meaning her determination to serve as the Goddess of Thunder was literally killing her. She continued regardless, simply because she believed it was right. It's possible the MCU's Jane Foster has the same kind of faith in Thor, a faith strong enough to trigger the enchantments placed upon the fragments of Uru that had been discarded by Hela. In this way, Jane's faith could be the true magic holding Mjolnir together.

This would make Jane Foster's Mighty Thor one of the most intriguing characters in the MCU to date, as she would be a human who believes in the need for the divine. There would be a striking counterpoint between Jane and Gorr the God-Butcher, who believe the gods are unworthy and deserving only of death. As a result, the clash between Gorr and the Mighty Thor could be as much a battle of philosophies as a brawl, adding an intriguing moral dimension to Thor: Love & Thunder.
