Warning! Spoilers ahead for Mighty Morphin #4 from Ryan Parrott and Marco Renna.

In the latest issue of Boom! Studios' Mighty Morphin' series, the new Green Ranger is the last Ranger standing in Angel Grove. Lord Zedd has taken the entire city hostage with a giant dome, and the rest of the Power Rangers are trapped on the outside, leaving only the mysterious Green Ranger on the inside to keep the city safe. Not only does he step up to the plate to protect the citizens, but he also reveals his true identity.

In recent issues of this new Power Rangers series from writer Ryan Parrott with art by Marco Renna, the Power Rangers have been trying to figure out who this new and unaffiliated Green Ranger might be. Having been recruited by the former Red Ranger Grace Sterling and her organization known as Promethea, the Green Ranger has been helping the other Rangers fight the forces of Lord Zedd from time to time. This led to him ending up on the scene of their latest battle to lend a hand with his Dragonzord in the pages of Mighty Morphin' #4.

As the conflict continues in this new issue, Grace reveals that Promethea has made some new modifications to the Dragonzord, and they're ready to show them off to help save the day. As such, the Green Ranger's Dragonzord starts to merge with the White Ranger's White Tigerzord, which would have made an epic Megazord to fight back against Zedd's monstrous Putty Prime. However, a blast of energy from Zedd interrupts the process, and his army of smaller putties would have overrun the rest of the Rangers, had the newcomer Zelya of Eltar not teleported them out of Angel Grove and back to Zordon. However, this is exactly what Zedd wanted, and he quickly creates a massive energy dome to keep them locked out. This leaves the new Green Ranger as the last hero left inside the city, and he sends a message to its citizens, promising that he won't abandon them. As another sign of reassurance and good faith, he also reveals his true identity.

While there were many hints as to who new Green Ranger could have been such as the villain Drakkon or even Zelya's human form Candice, the reveal of Matthew Cook is certainly an interesting surprise. Matthew is the ex-boyfriend of Kimberly, and they broke up after he found out who she and the rest of the Rangers were, However, they all refused to come clean, which lead to a falling out between him and the group of heroes.

Now that Matthew is a Ranger himself, it will be interesting to see what kinds of new dynamics will be seen in future issues, especially now that there's a Ranger with a a publicly known identity. It's also going to be interesting to see how the other Power Rangers will react as well. Will they eventually follow suit and reveal themselves? Fans will just have to wait and see as Boom! Studios' Mighty Morphin' series continues.
