Most of the cast from the original The Mighty Ducks films has reunited in a photo for The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers in their classic green and yellow Ducks jerseys. The team gathers nearly 30 years after The Mighty Ducks hit theaters in 1992, with Emilio Estevez taking center stage between six members of his old team.

The upcoming Disney+ revival series, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will welcome back Estevez’s Gordon Bombay who, in The Mighty Ducks, started out as a high-power lawyer but was forced to perform 500 hours of community service after being arrested for drunk driving. His punishment included him taking the reigns as the coach of peewee hockey team, the District 5 Ducks. The Mighty Ducks was met with great success, grossing $50 million on a reported $14 million budget, and spawned two sequels in D2: The Mighty Ducks and D3: The Mighty Ducks.

In a photo for Entertainment Weekly, six former team members join Coach Bombay on the ice in their classic jerseys. The actors will reprise their roles from all three films in a huge reunion in episode 6. The returning players include Elden Hanson as Fulton, Matt Doherty as Averman, Vinny La Russo as Adam Banks, Garret Henson as Guy, Justin Wong as Kenny Wu, and Marguerite Moreau as Connie. Creator Steven Brill says of the reunion, “It starts with a fun encounter Coach Bombay has with Fulton – they have an interesting run-in on the street reminiscent of ways they used to meet each other back in the early days. This chance meeting between Bombay and Fulton leads to a bigger story.” Check out the photo below:

Mighty Ducks cast reboot

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers sees the Ducks at the top of the junior hockey league, a far cry from the underdogs in the original films. The team has possibly risen too far, as they appear to embody the very bullies that the original gang once fought so hard to overcome. The series stars Brady Noon (Good Boys) as Evan, who, after being cut from the Ducks, joins his mother (Gilmore GirlsLauren Graham) to form a new, lighthearted hockey team for kids who don’t want the cutthroat competitiveness of what the Ducks have become. Their search for a coach leads them to Coach Bombay.

This return to the popular sports underdog formula marks an exciting addition to the Disney+ catalogue of new releases. The reunion episode of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will provide a welcome reappearance of familiar characters, but as of now, the show will not see two of the most popular players, as there is no plan for Joshua Jackson’s Charlie or Kenan Thompson’s Russ “Knuckle Puck” Tyler. The series opens the door for a new team of kids to rise above the obstacles to become the newest heroes on the ice. The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers premieres on Disney+ on Friday, March 26.
