Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Netflix series The Midnight Club will bring back several cast members from his previous projects. Alongside directors like Wes Anderson and Martin Scorsese, one of Mike Flanagan’s most notable traits is that he uses his own troupe of actors for his many horror projects. The horror director continually brings back his previous cast members for projects, most notably Flanagan's acclaimed wife Kate Siegel, with The Midnight Club being no exception.

Netflix’s The Midnight Club, which is scheduled to premiere on October 7, 2022, follows a group of seven terminally ill young adults living in the Rotterdam Home who meet every midnight to tell scary stories. One night, the group makes a pact that the first to die from their disease must communicate with the others from beyond the grave. When this finally happens, peculiar occurrences begin around their hospice. The Midnight Club is adapted from Christopher Pike’s novel of the same name, but Flanagan ensured that the series will feature elements of the author’s other stories as well.

The Midnight Club arrives after Mike Flanagan’s highly acclaimed Netflix horror series Midnight Mass (2021), The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020), and The Haunting of Hill House (2018). The cast of The Midnight Club features several newcomers to the Flanagan world, such as A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Heather Langenkamp, but will also see several returning faces from the director’s previous Netflix shows. Some frequent Mike Flanagan collaborators who haven’t been confirmed for the series include Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Henry Thomas, and Carla Gugino. However, a few of these actors (in addition to several from The Midnight Club) will also be starring in Flanagan’s upcoming series The Fall of the House of Usher.

Samantha Sloyan

Samantha Sloyan most recently achieved critical acclaim for her performance as religious zealot Bev Keane in Midnight Mass, where the actress’ role was perhaps an even greater villain than the vampires. Sloyan has also appeared in The Haunting of Hill House as Steven’s wife Leigh Crane and in Mike Flanagan’s movie Hush as Sarah. Sloyan’s role in The Midnight Club is so far undisclosed, but her acting range suggests she could play anything from an enigmatic villain to one of the series’ heroes. Following The Midnight Club, Sloyan will be appearing in Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher.

Zach Gilford

While the actor’s most iconic role is Matt Saracen from Friday Night Lights, Zach Gilford joined Mike Flanagan’s unofficial acting company in Midnight Mass, where he played the highly conflicted character Riley Flynn. Mike Flanagan has yet to announce Gilford’s character in The Midnight Club, but it’s been revealed that he’ll be in a supporting role. After The Midnight Club, Gilford will also be featured in The Fall of the House of Usher.

Igby Rigney

Igby Rigney also joined the Flanagan horror world in Midnight Mass where he played Warren Flynn, the teenage brother of Gilford’s character. Rigney is now stepping up to a starring role in The Midnight Club, in which the actor will portray one of the seven terminally ill young adults. The actor is also set to star in Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher after The Midnight Club.

Midnight Mass also marked the Flanagan debut of Annarah Cymone, who portrayed Leeza Scarborough, the devout daughter of the mayor using a wheelchair after an accident. Like her previous Midnight Mass co-star Igby Rigney, Cymone will be playing one of the seven terminally ill characters in The Midnight Club.

Crystal Balint

Crystal Balint has been cast in a recurring role for The Midnight Club, though Netflix has yet to disclose details of her character. Balint made her first Mike Flanagan project appearance in Midnight Mass as Dolly Scarborough, Leeza’s mother. Alongside many of her The Midnight Club co-stars, Balint will also appear in The Fall of the House of Usher. She has also appeared in several TV series including Supergirl, Riverdale, and Prison Break.

Matt Biedel

Matt Biedel as Sturge in Netflix Midnight Mass

Matt Biedel may have just entered Flanagan’s company in Midnight Mass, but the actor has long been featured in some of Netflix’s most popular projects, such as Narcos: Mexico. In Midnight Mass, Biedel portrayed Sturge, Crockett Island’s handyman. Biedel’s The Midnight Club role is so far unknown, but the actor will later be seen in Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher.

Robert Longstreet

Robert Longstreet is becoming one of Flanagan’s most frequent collaborators, with his more recent role as Joe Collie in Midnight Mass serving as one of the most gut-wrenching performances in the series. Longstreet also appeared in The Haunting of Hill House as Mr. Dudley, the home’s caretaker. Longstreet is credited as a janitor in The Midnight Club, though his role is apt to have far more significance than it suggests. Following Mike Flanagan’s The Midnight Club, Longstreet will play “Longfellow” on The Fall of the House of Usher.
