Microsoft Flight Simulator is giving away a special pizza-themed paint job to celebrate National Pizza Day. This latest iteration of Microsoft’s aircraft piloting simulator has become incredibly popular since its release, which may have helped cause a flight stick shortage last year. Since then, developer Asobo Studios has been continuously updating the game by adding more real-life locations for players to fly over and introducing new features such as support for VR.

Most recently, the studio announced that it plans to add both France and Belenux (which includes Belgium, Luxemburg, and the Netherlands) to the game sometime in March. Another update is also set to launch sometime in February, which will include updates to several locations already available in the game as well as to some of its features and aircraft. One much-awaited feature that was finally recently added is the aforementioned support for VR, which was released for free just last month.

While this latest release from the developer isn’t adding any new locations or features to the game, it does give players the chance to celebrate National Pizza Day. The new pizza livery mod for the game’s X-Cub single prop plane was announced by the official Microsoft Flight Simulator Twitter account. Designed by community member Matt987123, the livery features the word “PIZZA” emblazoned on both the side of the fuselage as well on top of the wings. A cheese and pepperoni motif can also be seen across the back of the fuselage and the stabilizer.

The Tweet didn’t specify whether the pizza livery mod will only be available on National Pizza Day so players may still be able to claim it after the fact. The cool-looking mod is just one of many that the game’s community have come up with since its launch. Another player created several mods showcasing the PS5 and Xbox Series X by adding monolithic versions of the consoles within the headquarters of their creators, Sony and Microsoft, respectively.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is already an extensive game as it is, with the developers planning to expand it even further, so allowing and even promoting community-made cool mods like this pizza livery one is a great bonus to what is already an excellent experience for many. Hopefully the game finally makes its way to Xbox Series X soon so more people can experience it.
