In the always exciting superhero world of My Hero Academia, series protagonist Izuku Midoriya aka Deku, is a hero-in-training with a costumed look that translates well on both the page and on screen, with Marvel’s Skottie Young taking a crack at Deku’s heroic design in his unique art style!
Recently posted on Instagram by Skottie Young’s official account (@skottieyoung), this fan-favorite Marvel artist treats his over 300k followers with daily sketches ranging from comic book pieces to movie and television images to other pop culture drawings that always impress. Illustrating his subjects with an art style that’s instantly recognizable thanks to its quirky, cute, and cartoony look, Skottie never shies away from drawing any number of popular fictional characters and giving them a comics makeover that enhances their already iconic looks in a way that keeps fans clamoring for more.
Acting as the current holder of the generational power dubbed One For All, Deku is also one of the strongest members of the Class 1-A group of students attending the prestigious U.A. High School and has high hopes to become a true professional hero that can rival his mentor and idol, All Might, one day. Born Quirkless only to now command the immense power handed down to him by previous holders of the One For All Quirk, Deku continues to do his best to master abilities he doesn’t fully understand yet, all the while still working to reach 100% of his ultimate power safely.
Skottie Young Gives Deku A Plus Ultra Makeover!
An image drawn by Skottie but colored by Anderson Carman (@andersoncarman), fans can immediately see why Skottie taking a crack at this iconic shonen hero was a daily sketch worth penciling. Depicting Deku bounding into the frame with a determined look on his face, Skottie draws Deku in his green, black, and white superhero threads with thinner and more exaggerated limbs, giving Deku a more animated appearance than usual but not losing his badass nature one bit. Detailing the image with crackling energy coming from Deku’s hands and feet, Skottie impressively shows off Deku’s power, with the energy dissipating in a way that looks awfully close to Midoriya’s Blackwhip attack, sans the darker color.
