The Varia Suit is a classic piece of gear and returns in Metroid Dread to help protect Samus in some familiar ways. Players might have to dig deep in the memory banks for the Varia Suit, it made its first appearance in the initial Metroid game on the NES. Back in the original Metroid, the Varia Suit allowed Samus to reduce any damage taken by 50%, and now it has some new features that all Metroid Dread players will need.

The Varia Suit is only one of many Suits Samus will acquire throughout her journey through ZDR. The first Suit Samus uses in her journey is the Power Suit, and it's a familiar sight to any player who delved into Metroid Fusion. It has a similar look but lacks the abilities needed to get through certain parts of Metroid Dread. Another Suit that Samus gets is the Gravity Suit, where players can use it to access lava-filled areas, while the Varia Suit cannot. In addition, the Gravity Suit allows for underwater movement and upgrades how much damage she can dish out with her dash attack.

Along with various armor pieces, Samus has many weapons at her disposal that get discovered along the way. After getting all of her abilities stripped away at the beginning of the game, Samus starts with only her power beam and a handful of missiles. Eventually, Samus does gain some mighty weapons, such as old favorites like the Power Bomb and Screw Attack. In addition, a new weapon arriving in Metroid Dread is the Storm Missiles, where it can lock on to multiple targets simultaneously.

Where To Get The Varia Suit in Metroid Dread

Metroid Dread Samus Varia Suit Upgrade

The Varia Suit is the first Suit Samus gets in Metroid Dread, and allows her to get through some of the high-temperature rooms throughout her journey. Unfortunately, the Varia Suit does not let her go into lava, but it will get her through some challenging regions she will encounter while getting the Suit. To get the Suit, players will want to make their way to Artaria. The best path to get to the Varia Suit is to head to the Westernmost saving area, but use the higher one on the map.

From the save room, keep moving upwards, and there will be areas where Samus will have to use the Morph Ball ability and a few locations she'll have to destroy to move up. Keep heading up until there are two paths to take on the right side of the map, one right above the other. Pick the topmost entrance, and then use Samus's cannon to activate the thermal machine. Have as much health as possible and continue moving up quickly, when stuck due to the heat blasts, shoot the walls to find openings. The path is reasonably linear and when the Chozo statue appears, hit the ball it holds for the Varia Suit.
