One talented cosplayer has recreated Samus Aran’s iconic Metroid armor, complete with glowing green LED highlights. The Chozo-crafted Power Suit is one of the most easily recognizable suits of armor in gaming and has seen plenty of upgrades and alternate iterations throughout Nintendo’s long-running Metroid series. Samus has several different power-ups for her armor to help in her many missions, such as the damage-reducing Varia Suit and zero-G traversing Gravity Suit.

Given her iconic place in gaming history, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Metroid’s Samus is a popular source of fanart and cosplay. Devoted players have recreated both her trademark Power Suit and the Zero Suit she wears underneath it in the form of drawings and costumes over the years, especially in the months leading up to Samus's return in this year's Metroid Dread. Even famed Mega Man Zero illustrator Toru Nakayama joined in on the fun with his own rendering of Samus dawning her technologically advanced armor before her latest mission on the dangerous Planet ZDR.

Reddit user and internet cosplayer spacebabecosplay recently shared a picture of her impressive Samus Aran cosplay. She states that she got the base pattern for this rendition of the Power Suit from a costuming company called Willow Creative on Esty, but they added a few neat touches of their own - such as green LED lights to stimulate how Samus’s armor glows with energy in the Metroid games. Aside from Samus, spacebabecosplay has shared plenty of impressive artwork and cosplay outfits on her social media, including an equally solid rendition of Hornet from Hollow Knight.

As mentioned before, Samus recently strapped on her Power Suit in Metroid Dread, the first original side-scrolling Metroid title since 2002’s Metroid Fusion for the Game Boy Advance. Metroid Dread has received rave reviews for its challenging boss fights and return to the classic Metroid gameplay of old, and even won the title of Best Action/Adventure Game at The Game Awards 2021. Metroid series producer Yoshio Sakamoto has stated that he intends to continue Samus’s story past the events of Metroid Dread, and fans have noted that the newest game lays plenty of promising groundwork for future Metroid titles.

Samus’s Metroid armor is one of the most iconic outfits in video games, and spacebabecosplay’s cosplay does a phenomenal job in bringing the Power Suit to life. The LED ascents capture the energy that flows through Samus's suit whenever she harnesses its incredible power during her missions to save the universe, and the metallic texturing is spot-on. All in all, spacebabecosplay is certainly ready for the next Space Pirate attack or dark, derelict space station.
