Mercedes me Charge is a program that allows Mercedes EV users to charge their vehicles at any station operated by Electrify America, ChargePoint, EVgo, and others, but how does one enroll for the service? Mercedes-Benz has stayed true to its promise of offering consumers multiple choices when shopping for an electric model. The German automaker has made significant progress in its technology features. The MBUX hyperscreen is an advanced dashboard that allows drivers to do more with their car's infotainment system. Additionally, DrivePilot, its driver assistance system, was the first in the world to offer Level 3 autonomy. This means that users can do other things like text or make calls while the Mercedes self-drives.

Charging has become a mainstream term in the automotive glossary. Previously, drivers refueled at gas stations. Nowadays, drivers can recharge their cars at home or in public. While charging at home is a given, public charging stations are equally important for topping up range on the go, but finding the nearest one can be a challenge.

With its me Charge initiative, Mercedes-Benz built a network of public chargers to enable EV owners to easily find a station and charge their vehicle. It's similar to Ford’s Blue Oval Network which comprises several stations that Ford EV owners can easily locate using the car's navigation or the Ford Pass mobile app. This is a way to incentivize the purchase of EVs, seeing as how many people are reluctant to switch from gasoline vehicles. Currently, the me Charge network contains nearly 60,000 public chargers with power ratings of between 50 kW and 350 kW across the United States. The car's navigation and Mercedes me app can be used to find the best route when driving so that drivers can maximize range. The system can also be used to schedule stops at charging stations along the way.

Me Charge

As one of the largest integrated charging networks in the U.S, Mercedes me Charge is quite popular. To begin enjoying the benefits, Mercedes EV owners have to activate the service using the Mercedes me connect app. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Users need to enroll their vehicle in the app, and once the vehicle is displayed on the home screen, the set-up process has been completed.

After agreeing to the charging contract, a prompt should appear. At this point, drivers will need to sign up with ChargePoint and supply their payment details. It should be noted that ChargePoint isn't the only charging station provider in the network, as EVgo and Electrify America can also be accessed. Drivers will need to input their RFID card number during the process. Usually, the dealer that sells the Mercedes EV is expected to register the vehicle, but if this hasn't been done, a tile will appear on the home screen.
