Melissa Benoist and Sam Heughan will star in romantic drama Oxford. Benoist plays a student at the titular university who falls for an arrogant teaching assistant battling terminal cancer. Once she discovers his illness, the pair become closer and begin travelling the world together. Allison Burnett (Underworld: Awakening) provided the film's script.
Benoist has appeared in films like The Longest Ride and Whiplash but is better known for regular roles on television shows like Glee and this fall's Supergirl. Meanwhile, Heughan plays the male lead on the hit Starz series Outlander. No anticipated release date for Oxford has been announced at this point.
Sam Worthington and Ruth Wilson have joined the cast of sci-fi film The Titan, based on a story idea by screenwriter Arash Amel (Grace of Monaco) and scripted by Max Hurwitz (Hell on Wheels). Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service) is also among the cast of the film, which will be directed by Lennart Ruff.
Ruff makes his directorial feature debut with The Titan. The film centers on a military family that participates in a deep-space exploration experiment. Filming begins in Europe in January 2016.

Luke Bracey (The Best of Me) has joined the cast of Mel Gibson's historical drama Hacksaw Ridge. Bracey will play Smitty, the alpha dog of the film's primary platoon who bonds with Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield). Doss was the first conscientious objector in American history to be awarded the Medal for Honor for bravery in World War II.
Bracey will next be seen in this year's Point Break remake. In addition to Bracey and Garfield, Hacksaw Ridge will also star Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington. Filming begins this fall in Australia for an anticipated release next year.
Lionsgate has released a new trailer for Love the Coopers, an upcoming family comedy set to hit theaters on November 13. Directed by Jessie Nelson, the film features an extensive ensemble cast that includes Diane Keaton, John Goodman, Olivia Wilde, Anthony Mackie, Amanda Seyfried, Marisa Tomei, Ed Helms, Alan Arkin and June Squibb.
Keaton and Goodman star as the heads of a family gathering during the holiday season. The film is being compared to similarly themed comedies like Love Actually or The Family Stone. It marks Nelson's first directorial efforts since 2001, when she wrote and directed Oscar-nominated drama I Am Sam.
