After Jessica Mulroney's white privilege scandal, reports emerged that her longtime best friend Meghan Markle has distanced herself from her. The two met almost 10 years back in Canada and became fast friends. On several notable occasions, Jessica was spotted side by side with Meghan. However, the friendship turned sour when Jessica dragged her royal friend's name in between her spat with the black IG influencer, Sasha Exeter.

The 40-year-old Jessica is a Canada based fashion stylist and TV personality, who is married into an influential family. Her husband is Ben Mulroney, a popular TV host and the oldest son of ex Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. In 2011, the 38-year-old Meghan met the fashionista when she first relocated to Canada to act in her super hit paralegal show, Suits. The TV star approached Jessica to take fashion advice for both her show and other appearances. The professional relationship turned into a beautiful friendship when they observed each other's shared interests like Yoga, travel, and fashion. The duo soon became best friends and was spotted taking vacations together. Before deactivating her social media profile, Meghan shared plenty of photos with her ex-bestie. In 2016, Jessica also uploaded a picture on her IG congratulating Meghan on successfully designing a collection for a clothing brand. Check out the image below:

In the fall of 2016, the news broke out into the media that Meghan and Prince are dating. At that time, Jessica and her husband Ben reportedly gave shelter to the couple when they wanted to hide from the paparazzi. They also hosted several dinner parties for the couple, during which Harry got to spend time with Jessica's three children and became a fan of them. Jessica was Meghan's confidante and also played an instrumental role in planning her royal wedding with Prince Harry in 2018. Surprisingly, the Canadian influencer was not the maid of honor at Meghan's wedding. Still, her children served essential roles as bridal attendants. Her nine-year-old twins, John and Brian, carried the bride's train down the Chapel's aisle, and her 7-year-old daughter played flower girl along with Princess Charlotte.

Meghan Markle and Jessica Mulroney

In October 2018, the Suits star announced her pregnancy. After a few months, a royal baby shower was arranged in the penthouse suite of New York's luxurious Mark Hotel. Along with many notable celebrities like Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, Daniel Martin, Meghan's best friend Jessica also attended the special event. After a two-day baby shower, the best friends were also snapped, having macaroons at Laduree and dinner at the Polo Bar. Here's a picture of them from the good old times:

In January, Jessica took care of Meghan's son Archie when the royal couple was in the UK to drop the big news about their exit. After their royal exit announcement, Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry reportedly stayed with the Mulroney family. However, last month, the Toronto based stylist got in a tiff with fellow IG influencer Sasha Exeter, who is a single mom and black woman. Well, Sasha has around 144K followers on Instagram. She used her social media platform to urge her fans as well as fellow influencers, including Jessica, to speak against racism and support the Black Lives Matter movement.

Although it was a generic appeal, the TV personality took it the wrong way and treated it as a personal attack. Jessica didn't seem to act mindfully and allegedly wrote threatening messages in response. She also threatened Sasha's livelihood and said that she will talk to her clients and sponsors and advise them to not work with her. Consequently, Sasha made a video about this horrifying experience and posted that on her IG profile. While some seem to applaud Sasha for speaking out, others think that this ordeal was to gain followers. Jessica's fans call Sasha an "opportunist" and claim that the mom of three has always been supporting women and working to uplift them. Still, Jessica received a massive backlash on her platform. An angry follower wrote, "Tragic! What you did to @sashaexeter is absolutely tragic yet sadly too familiar to us in the Black Community. Do.Better." Therefore, Jessica decided to make a public apology while explaining her side. Check out the post below:

While apologizing, she dragged the name of her friend and the Duchess of Sussex. Reportedly, Meghan was shocked by this incident and got upset to know that she was mentioned in a personal tiff between two individuals. A close source of Meghan stated, "Meghan is absolutely mortified that she's been dragged into this complete mess. She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation (with the fashion influencer) was tone-deaf and heartbreaking." Well, it's good to see Meghan speaking in favor of Jessica and claiming that she is not a racist - she honors her decade long friendship. But at the same time, she seems disturbed by the fact that her friend somehow tried to take leverage of her royal social status as well as ethnicity.

For the last two weeks, Jessica has been staying away from social media. Before being inactive, she sent a DM to Sasha with another threat of a lawsuit, "good luck with the libel case," which indicates that she doesn't really feel sorry about her wrongdoings. To improve her public image, Jessica has also hired a crisis PR team. She seems eager to rectify her social media status. But, we don't think she should return into the limelight anytime soon because at this time even her most prominent supporters seem pretty bitter. Meanwhile, this scandal turned out to be a career ruining for the TV celebrity. Jessica has been fired from her show I Do, Redo by CTV. The network released a statement that she conflicts with their commitment to diversity. Good Morning America also tweeted that Jessica has also stepped away from her "professional engagements." Check out the tweet below:

More recently, Jessica celebrated her daughter's seventh birthday and didn't receive a call from her best friend, Meghan. Now she thinks her friendship with her is over. Well, she shouldn't be disheartened because the two have been friends for a long time and do share a strong bond. Sooner or later, friends eventually forgive each other.
