It looks like Capcom’s blue bomber is sneaking out of the stable later this year, as a retweet sharing a PS4 system screenshot from Singapore’s PSN store reveals that Mega Man 11 will be released on October 3. The original Singaporean Twitter account shared an image of the game’s store page prominently featuring a new image of Mega Man, and Twitter user @Wario64 shared the tweet, along with a follow-up tweet displaying the full description for Mega Man 11. The store page has since been removed from Sony’s servers. One of Capcom’s longest running franchises and arguably their most beloved character, Mega Man (a.k.a Rock Man in Japan) has been a consistent video game presence dating back to his first appearance in 1987 on the Famicom and NES. Interestingly, it’s been quite a long wait for a new numbered entry in the series, ever since 2010’s critically-acclaimed Mega Man 10.RELATED: Capcom is Working on Dead Rising 5This is one of the reasons why the news is so exciting; while Mega Man 11 was indeed confirmed for release by Capcom back in December, no launch schedule was specified at that time. With the recently celebrated 30th anniversary of the character, the placement of an entirely new classically-modeled adventure is clearly overdue. Adding a new twist to the classic series this time is the mysterious “Double Gear system,” which the store description states, “...let’s you boost Mega Man’s speed and power for a new twist on the satisfying gameplay the series is known for.”[EMBED_TWITTER]https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1000209216374587393[/EMBED_TWITTER]The Mega Man series is possibly most well known for its brightly-colored art style, deviously precise gameplay, and variety of bosses, all of whom can be tackled in any order and relinquish a unique weapon upon defeat. After a distinctly long span of time following the release of Mega Man 8 in 1997, Mega Man 9 arrived to modern consoles in 2008, lauded for its retro appearance and gameplay feel — closely modeled on the NES games in the series — which led to its speedily developed follow-up two years later. The format for these games, while derivative of previous entries, never fails to please long-time fans as well as new Mega Man adherents. And, while Mega Man spin-offs and guest appearances are a frequent presence on store shelves, a new arrival of a main numbered entry is deserving of particular applause. Additionally, an October release might be perfectly situated to coincide with the upcoming Cartoon Network animated series, which has seen several delays since its original announcement, but is now slated to arrive later this year.Twitter user @Wario64 is known and trusted for routinely sharing online video game deals and news, and this recent snipe of what looks like a PSN store mix-up is an exciting discovery. Fans should keep a lookout for an official Mega Man 11 announcement from Capcom confirming this in the coming months.MORE: The 50 Most Anticipated Video Games of 2018Source: Wario64
