Piranha Games' just released a YouTube launch trailer for its highly anticipated upcoming title, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. The video game will be released as an Epic Games Store exclusive, only for PC, on December 10, and the hype surrounding its release makes it one of the most anticipated video games in 2019. The enthusiasm of the fans is likely mostly due to the fact that MechWarrior 5 will be the first single-player title of the franchise since 2002.

However, players had to wait a long time for the official release date of the game. MechWarrior 5 was expected to launch in 2018, but Piranha Games decided to delay the release into 2019, to ensure the best single-player experience possible to the fans of the franchise. Initially, the official launch date was set for last September, but then it was delayed once again and set for December. The game's opening cinematic firs debuted on YouTube on November 27th, showcasing impressive graphics and trademark massive mech warfare.

Now, MechWarrior 5's official YouTube channel has released the game's launch trailer as well. The video shows the incredibly detailed mechs featured within MechWarrior 5 and some game action that will certainly appeal to the lovers of the mech genre. The comments from fan on the YouTube video are definitely enthusiastic: one of them, who posts under the nickname of Scarcer, has even taken December 10 off work to fully enjoy the game's release.

However, many players who took the time to comment on the launch trailer aren't too happy about Piranha Games' exclusive deal with Epic Games Store, that will see the game exclusive for a full year. Epic Games Store has been at the center of several controversies lately, since several highly-anticipated titles skipped the rather popular competitor Steam in favor of the newer digital storefront. Several players even pre-ordered games on Steam only to find out that the developer had made an exclusivity deal with Epic Games Store, so they had to download another game launcher in order to enjoy the title they previously purchased. This led to a certain degree of disappointment among the gaming community.

That said, it's very likely that the exclusivity deal won't stop the loyal fans of the MechWarrior franchise from opening up their wallets, and even change their favorite game launcher, in order to enjoy the new title. After all, they've been waiting 17 years for a new single-player game in the popular mech series! Others will just wait another year, until the deal comes to an end – although MechWarrior 5 will probably be released on other platforms as well.
