For years, fans have been wondering what Taylor Swift might look like as Dazzler from X-Men, and now a new piece of fan art shows what the pop megastar would look like as the fan-favorite mutant...and it is perfect. While Swift is perhaps the biggest American pop icon, Dazzler, or Alison Blaire, is the X-Men’s own pop star who has the ability to convert sonic vibrations into various types of light and energy beams.
Swift released two studio albums in 2020, Folklore and Evermore, the former of which is nominated for a few Grammys awards this year, along with her original song "Beautiful Ghosts" written for the 2019 box office bomb Cats, in which she also starred as the cat Bombalurina. The connection between Taylor Swift and Dazzler began back in 2015 when Swift was photographed at one of her 1989 tour stops with X-Men: Apocalypse stars James McAvoy and Sophie Turner, as well as Simon Kinberg, one of the film's writers and producers. At the time, this photo fueled serious speculation that Swift would have a cameo appearance as Dazzler in Apocalypse. However, the photo was nothing more than a coincidence.
Now, fans finally get to see what Taylor Swift would like as Dazzler courtesy of illustrator Steven Defendini. Photos were posted by Ross of X on Twitter of what the international pop icon might look like adorned with the Dazzler’s insignia on her chest, signature blue eye makeup, and even an X-Men belt. After not having a cameo in Apocalypse, Dazzler did end up making a brief appearance in the next X-Men installment, Dark Phoenix, albeit played by Halston Sage. Now that Disney has acquired 21st Century Fox and the ragtag group of mutants can finally appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, speculation regarding who might play Dazzler has been picking up again. Given this fan art and the positive reception it has received, Taylor Swift appears to the fan-favorite so far to play X-Men's pop star.
Possibilities for Dazzler’s first appearance in the MCU could include a live-action movie of her own, or appearances alongside the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, which Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said is already being discussed. Some theorize that WandaVision is already introducing the X-Men into the MCU. Since Swift absolutely nails Dazzler’s look, she would be the perfect choice to portray the mutant who lives a double life as a pop star.
