WandaVision has introduced a lot of intriguing mysteries so far, but one of the most interesting developed in episode four. FBI agent Jimmy Woo came to Westview in search of a missing witness from the Witness Protection program. There are a lot of things on Jimmy's whiteboard, but the witness isn't identified and is barely mentioned again. But who could it be?

Since Easter eggs and references, to both the comic books and the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe, are abound in the series, could they hold the key to who the witness is and why they came to Westview in the first place? Or will it be someone completely unexpected?

Ralph

Kathryn Hahn as Agnes

WandaVision is built on references to vintage TV shows, especially sitcoms. One of the biggest sitcom tropes the show employs is the unseen character (think Maris from Frasier or Mrs. Columbo from Columbo). Agnes' husband, Ralph, is mentioned frequently, but so far hasn't been seen. Could he be the missing witness?

Agnes seems to have some sense of what's going on in Westview, and given her anxiety about Monica Rambeau, is as invested in maintaining the illusion as Wanda is.

Agnes

Agnes' Necklace and Agatha Harkness in WandaVision

Jimmy Woo specifically refers to the missing witness as a 'he,' which limits the candidate pool a bit. But nothing is what it seems in Westview, and it's possible through magic or other unseen powers that the witness may be in disguise. That could mean Agnes herself is the witness.

A lot of speculation has centered on the fact that she is likely not who she claims to be, but perhaps Agatha Harkness, a powerful sorceress and mentor of Wanda in the Marvel comics.

Dottie

Equally mysterious is the character of Dottie. Dottie and Agnes are two characters not identified on Jimmy's whiteboard as being actual residents of Westview (or other places).  Her husband, Phil Jones, was revealed to be Harold Copter, but Dottie remains a mystery.

Dottie is in many ways the community leader in Westview, organizing the talent show and ruling with an iron fist. Some have speculated that she is a character in disguise, perhaps even the Marvel devil himself, Mephisto.

Mephisto

Mephisto smiles and bares his fangs in Marvel Comics.

Mephisto seems to be the subject of a fair number of Easter eggs and references in WandaVision. While the idea of him being a witness in Witness Protection might seem like a stretch, Mephisto can impersonate others. He can alter his shape, cast illusion spells, as well as manipulate memories.

It's possible he was posing as the witness for a different purpose, and then went to Westview, drawn perhaps by Wanda's powers. It is possible that the extremely powerful Mephisto ends up as the main villain of Phase 4 of the MCU.

Simon Williams

Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man

Mephisto isn't the only Marvel Comics character getting teased in Easter eggs in WandaVision. Wonder Man is the subject of many as well. Simon Williams has a long and complex connection with both the Vision and Scarlet Witch in the comic books.

Ultron modeled Vision's brain waves on Williams, and years later, Wanda asked Williams to help restore Vision's mind after he had been destroyed. That plays a key role in the current state of affairs with Vision in the show. Also, Williams was an actor in Hollywood before becoming a superhero.

Baron Mordo

Baron Mordo in the MCU

Wanda will appear in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, with her actions in Westview possibly being key to the emergence of alternate dimensions into the MCU. Many non-MCU movie franchise Marvel characters could appear in the movie, but one MCU character that will is Baron Mordo.

He could also appear in WandaVision, as the witness. Mordo's fidelity to the natural order could have led him to seek out Wanda and Westview, where things are definitely not as they should be.

Bill Foster

Laurence Fishburne as Bill Foster in Ant-Man and the Wasp

It's also possible that Jimmy Woo's witness is someone he is familiar with. Woo first appeared in the Ant-Man and The Wasp movies and some characters from the franchise are certainly candidates. One might be Bill Foster.

At the end of the second movie, Bill Foster commits to finding a way to stabilize the Ghost from her Quantum Realm related affliction. It's possible his endeavors lead to some criminal activity, or Foster knows something critical that endangered his life.

Sonny Burch

Another potential Ant-Man candidate is Sonny Burch. Sonny was a criminal with connections to the FBI in the second movie. He initially provided materials for Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne to create their Quantum Tunnel. He was arrested by the FBI and could be in the Witness Protection program.

Sonny was also working for unnamed buyers very interested in the Quantum Tunnel Pym was building with his daughter. Did he going into hiding to avoid them? Who are they and why would they want technology to access the Quantum Realm?

Peter Parker

Peter Parker Spider-Man

Elizabeth Olsen teased that Scarlet Witch could appear in the third Spider-Man MCU movie. That probably makes some sense as the movie will be dealing with characters from the multiverse, including Doctor Octopus and Electro. But is Peter Parker the missing witness? He well could be.

Peter's life was turned upside down at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, when his secret identity was revealed and he was falsely accused of killing Mysterio. Did Peter go into hiding? Did he go to Westview to try and help Wanda?

Quicksilver

Quicksilver running through Sokovia in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Jimmy Woo came to Scott Lang because Lang was placed under house arrest for violating the Sokovian Accords. Those accords exist because of the disaster in Sokovia, in which Wanda's brother, Pietro Maximoff, died. Or at least he seemed to.

The MCU Quicksilver succumbed to his injuries in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but his ability to run very fast may also affect his metabolism to the extent his body heals much faster than a normal person's. If so, Pietro could have survived and has been in federal custody ever since.
