Both Disney and the MCU have their fair share of villains. Good and bad, laughable and scary, these villains stand out. Some of these villains share certain qualities and goals in common with one another; perhaps the reason why audiences love certain villains so much is that they are similar to other villainous favorites.

Justin Hammer and Prince John could've been best friends, and Ultron and Doris could've torn each other apart because they were so similar. Whatever the combination, it's fun to take a look at what MCU and Disney villains share in common.

Adrian Toomes & Medusa

Toomes was desperate when he lost his business in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He resorted to a criminal career to ensure he could support his family by any means necessary; when that life was threatened by Spider-Man exposing him, he wasn't above killing Peter to solve the problem.

Meanwhile, The Rescuers' Medusa uses what resources she has to look out for herself, and while she's more selfish and didn't have a family to support like Toomes, she has also become a criminal, namely in the form of kidnapping, to get what she wanted. Both Toomes and Medusa were okay with kids, namely Peter and Penny, becoming casualties, so long as they got what they wanted, and they used a means to an end to make things work for them.

Brock Rumlow & Gaston

Rumlow, aka "Crossbones", certainly has his cocky moments. He's also not short on arrogance. Throughout his time in the MCU, he's sure he can handily defeat foes from Captain America to The Falcon, but he's really nothing more than a second-rate Hydra goon.

Gaston's arrogance and confidence in himself in Beauty and the Beast are very similar; he was sure Belle would marry him in a heartbeat, and he was sure that he could kill the Beast easily. Things didn't work out for either Rumlow or Gaston; they had to learn the hard way.

Killian & Hades

Aldrich Killian on left and Hades on right

Iron Man 3's Aldrich Killian was very bitter towards Tony Stark after Stark humiliated him, and it led to the creation of Extremis, which came back to haunt Tony big time. Killian's villainy was born out of bitterness and embarrassment, not unlike Hades.

Hades in Hercules was angry because he'd been cast down to the Underworld, unwillingly, by Zeus. Both men harbor resentment and hatred and decided to handle their situations in evil manners, which didn't work out well for either of them. Though, they could probably have a lengthy discussion regarding how unfair life is.

Justin Hammer & Prince John

Like Disney's Prince John, Justin Hammer isn't a villain taken too seriously in the MCU. Hammer appears as one of the villains in Iron Man 2, and even Tony Stark can't take him seriously.

Hammer made a big mistake in thinking he could trust Ivan Vanko to do what he wanted; that particular decision showed his poor judgment, and it came back to haunt him when everything went wrong and Iron Man had to step in for damage control. Likewise, Prince John from Robin Hood is incapable of really doing anything for himself, and when things go wrong, he can't be relied upon to do anything, as Prince John will cower and suck on his thumb when things get out of hand.

Hela & Jafar

Hela from Thor Ragnarok on left and Jafar and Iago on right

Hela was all too happy to see her father go and to take control of Asgard in Thor: Ragnarok. Unfortunately, she was powerful enough to outdo both Loki and Thor, which made the fight look quite bleak for a while. However, her need for power and control ultimately got the best of her.

Jafar's story is quite similar, as he too longed to take over the throne in Agrabah in Aladdin. When Jafar gets a hold of Genie, he wishes to be Sultan, and then the most powerful genie. The latter wish gets the better of him and he ends up locked away. Hela and Jafar could certainly relate through their motivations and their fates.

Dormammu & Shere Khan

Dormammu on left and Shere Khan on right

Dormammu is pretty confident in his own abilities, and he operates by his own rules in Doctor Strange. He also takes pleasure in causing pain to others. This isn't unlike The Jungle Book's Shere Khan, who enjoyed intimidating and scaring Kaa when he suspected that the snake was hiding someone (namely Mowgli) in his tree.

Both Shere Khan and Dormmamu delight in making the rules and threatening others and don't love it when people like Doctor Strange or Mowgli come along and threaten that system.

Obadiah Stane & Edgar Balthazar

Obadiah Stane on left from Iron Man and Edgar from The Aristocats on right

Obadiah Stane was the main villain in Iron Man. He wanted Stark Industries for himself, and several times tried to kill Tony Stark so his dream could be made possible. His selfishness and greediness drive him over the edge; Stane was jealous and wanted something that wasn't his.

Likewise, Edgar from The Aristocats is angry to learn that his employer, whom he's been loyal to for years, plans to leave her entire fortune to her cats instead of him. Both Stane and Edgar went to great lengths (albeit Stane took a more murderous route) to ensure they got what they felt they deserved, but neither were successful.

Ultron & Dor-15 "Doris"

Ultron from the avengers 2 on left and doris from meet the robinsons on right

Ultron and Doris of Meet the Robinsons both hated their creators, those being Tony Stark and Cornelius Robinson, respectively. Both of them rebelled against what they had programmed to do. Ultron was intent on getting rid of humanity, while Doris wanted to control them. Hence, they both envisioned world domination in one way or another.

These two certainly have several things in common, and it would be interesting to see what would happen if they were to ever meet. There would certainly be a power struggle!

 Thanos & Gothel

Thanos on left and Gothel on right

Thanos was intent on destroying populations across the universe as a means to save it, in his opinion, as seen in several films, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. He was convinced that it had to be done, and was willing to sacrifice anything and everything, including Gamora.

Mother Gothel of Tangled was intent on keeping herself young and beautiful, even if it cost Rapunzel her entire life and even if it kept the healing powers of Rapunzel's hair away from people who really needed it. Thanos and Gothel both believe that they know best, and feel that any suffering that comes from the decisions they make is worth it in the long run.

Loki & Kaa

Loki on left and Kaa on right

Loki is always scheming and causing mischief and problems one way or another, whether he's messing with Thor or bringing his Chitauri army to Earth. He's always up to no good and usually has some kind of ulterior motive. Kaa from The Jungle Book is the same way; he says to "trust in me", but that's the last thing anyone, especially Mowgli, should be doing.

Kaa even manages to hypnotize Bagheera briefly. He's skillful and talented, but at the end of the day, neither he nor Loki were able to get the upper hand, and they could commiserate on that.
