The MCU has got a lot of great friendships and bonds between characters that have been built up over the course of the movies. Many of them make sense such as Captain America and Bucky, or Iron-Man and War Machine, as they've come from the same places or experienced the same situations together, which has forced a bonding moment.
However, with so many characters now being involved and interacting with each other, some of the friendships that have occurred are ones that people would never have expected to see. This leads to some strange interactions between characters, which can often be hilarious, although sometimes puzzling.
Bucky Barnes & Shuri
A friendship between Bucky Barnes and Shuri is something that most people would never have expected to see in the MCU. However, once Bucky is left on Wakanda, becoming the White Wolf, the two bond, which is mainly down to the fact Shuri looks after him.
It's an interesting friendship and one that will hopefully be explored in more detail as the MCU continues, as this is a bond that fans could easily end up getting behind. Shuri's sassiness could lead to some hilarious scenes with Bucky if given the screentime.
Iron-Man & Dr. Strange
Within Avengers: Infinity War a new friendship is created between Iron-Man and Dr. Strange, which is one of the strangest within the franchise. The main reason for that is that both characters are headstrong and happy to give their opinions, often in quite an arrogant manner.
Initially, they do butt heads and have arguments, which is often done in a comedic way, but it showcases the oddness of the friendship. However, Dr. Strange later helps Tony Stark realize exactly what he has to do, which is what ultimately saves everyone, making this an important friendship.
Hulk & Black Widow
This is a friendship that has been given a lot of screentime within the MCU, but that doesn't mean that it isn't a strange one. Anyone being friends with the big green version of this character instantly comes across as odd, especially when he isn't able to communicate.
However, Black Widow works well with him and is always able to calm down Bruce Banner, bringing him back down to reality. It's a friendship that fans grew to love within the franchise, but it is still a strange one on the surface level.
Hulk & Thor
Speaking of strange friendships that Hulk ends up making, his bond with Thor is one that people didn't see coming. However, when they get together in Thor: Ragnarok, it ends up being one of the funniest friendships in the entire MCU.
They proved that sticking random characters together can work out perfectly, as was the case with this one. Because they're two characters with immense power who both bring a lot of comedy to the table, they're not expected to become great friends, but because they do it ends up being a hilarious connection.
Aunt May & Happy Hogan
This friendship is intentionally strange, with the idea behind it being to provide comedy with Peter Parker's reactions to it. While they're two of the non-hero characters in the MCU, both Aunt May and Happy Hogan are important elements to the franchise.
Seeing them together is often hilarious as Happy is normally flustered, while May is smitten, which brings out a great side in both of them. It is made even better when Peter is around, although there is no denying that this is a strange pairing.
Scott Lang & Jim Paxton
Another family-style friendship that is quite unexpected and strange ends up taking place between Scott Land and Jim Paxton. Considering that Jim ends up in a relationship with Scott's ex-partner and the mother to his child, this is a pair of people that would usually have quite a strained bond.
However, their friendship ends up being the complete opposite of that. Jim absolutely loves Scott and is over the moon whenever they see each other, which is something that seems to surprise everybody involved every time it happens.
Hawkeye & Scarlet Witch
Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch aren't two characters that would traditionally be placed together as friends, but that is what ends up happening. Initially, Hawkeye seems hesitant towards her, which is clear by the frosty relationship he has with her brother.
However, they both come together as friends through grief. With Black Widow and Vision passing away, the two of them end up bonding during a great scene, showcasing an odd friendship that nobody expected.
Hulk & Ant-Man
The friendship that blossoms between Huk and Ant-Man in Avengers: Endgame is one that relies heavily upon comedy, which is what makes it so strange. With Hulk having blended both elements of his personality together, he is able to interact in his strongest form, and that instantly makes their friendship a strange one from a visual perspective.
But whether it's Ant-Man taking pictures of Hulk with his fans, Hulk shrinking him down, or Hulk handing out food to him, the interactions they have together are all very odd but incredibly enyertaining.
Rocket & Thor
The friendship between Rocket and Thor is one that provides a lot of humor, with Rocket seemingly finding Thor a better prospect than Star-Lord. However, the pairing is a strange one as they're two confident characters who like to believe that what they're doing is right at all times.
But that doesn't stop them from working well together. They provide some funny one-liners throughout their time as a duo, especially since Thor never seems to know what Rocket actually is, but the fact they're so effective is what makes them brilliant.
Iron-Man & Nebula
Iron-Man gets to interact with a lot of different characters over the course of the MCU, but one that most people didn't expect him to become friends with was Nebula. But that is exactly what happens when they're initially stuck in space together.
They play games as Tony Stark attempts to explain the rules to her, all while accepting that he has an impending death as he has run out of options. It's a sweet friendship that blossoms, but certainly a strange one.
