Even though he first appeared in the MCU in 2016, Spider-Man is still one of the newest superheroes of the MCU. And he's also one of its youngest heroes which means he potentially has a lot of stories ahead of him. With two solo films under his belt as well as the team-up with the Avengers, it looks like Spider-Man has gotten plenty of time to shine.

But even though the MCU did give him a lot of space, there are still some things that the films didn't show. From Spider-Man's backstory to some unanswered questions, a few things about Spider-Man remain hidden in the MCU.

Uncle Ben's Death

The death of Uncle Ben in Spider-Man comics.

Uncle Ben's death is a major reason why Peter turns things around and starts thinking of other people instead of only of himself. The MCU doesn't repeat the storyline that appeared in the previous two live-action versions of Spider-Man, played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, respectively.

Instead, when the audience meets Peter Parker, Uncle Ben has already been dead for months and he's never mentioned by name nor do the films explain what happened to him.

The Fate Of Peter's Parents

On a similar note, the MCU never reveals what happened to Peter's parents and why it's his aunt May who's raising him and not his mom and dad.

Unlike uncle Ben, whose existence was at least alluded to thanks to some ambiguous dialogues and Peter's suitcase he has in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), the death or whereabouts of Peter's parents is never addressed.

How Peter Got His Powers (And Tested Them)

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse Radioactive Spider

All Spider-Man fans know that Peter Parker got his special powers when he was bitten by a radioactive spider. However, those who don't read comic books or haven't seen the previous films might not be familiar with this fact. And even if they did see them, it still remains a mystery how exactly did Peter get his powers in the MCU.

The only mention happens when Peter says to Ned that the spider that gave him powers is dead but the audience doesn't get any further details.

Peter's Friendship With Harry Osborn

Spider-Man and Green Goblin (Harry) fight

Peter and Harry Osborn are good friends in the comics even though they sometimes disagree and don't get along. Their friendship is made even more complicated when Harry experiments with drugs and also becomes the Green Goblin.

In the MCU, though, Peter's best friend is Ned Leeds and Harry is never even mentioned - even though Oscorp business does exist in the MCU.

How Tony Stark Knows Peter Is Spider-Man

Tony Starks recruits Peter Parker in Captain America Civil War

Tony Stark recruits Peter to fight by his side against Captain America and his allies in Germany. Tony shows up unexpectedly in Peter's apartment and states that he knows Peter is Spider-Man. What the movies never reveal is how Tony found out the truth about Peter's secret identity in the first place.

Considering how careful Peter is to keep being Spider-Man a secret, this is a question many fans asked themselves.

Peter's Work For Daily Bugle

Amazing Spider-Man Daily Bugle Comic

In the comics, the Daily Bugle is an important part of Peter's life since it provides him with a majority of his money. Peter works as a photographer for the newspaper and takes pictures of himself as Spider-Man.

The Daily Bugle exists in the MCU but it has a different form, it exists online and it outs Peter as Spider-Man (with Mysterio's assistance). So it looks like that Peter won't be working for the media outlet anytime soon.

Aunt May's Work

Spider-Man: Homecoming Aunt May and Peter talk in their apartment

The films repeatedly hint at the fact that Peter and aunt May aren't well-off financially. After Uncle Ben's death, they move to a different, smaller apartment. And once Hulk reverses the snap, it looks like Aunt May no longer has her old job.

The MCU never reveals what she does for a living and how she manages to keep their household afloat. It's possible Peter has inherited money after his parents but the films never address it.

How Peter Fell For MJ

Peter Parker and MJ talk

In Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Peter likes Liz until the end of the film. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, he's suddenly in love with MJ but the film doesn't show how it happened or when.

As a result, their relationship can come across as less organic since there's no build-up to it other than what the audience sees in the film itself.

Peter's Life After Tony Stark's Death

Tony Stark and Peter Parker Reunion in Endgame

Since Spider-Man: Far From Home starts several months after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), it's unclear what Peter did during the meantime and how he dealt with Tony Stark's death considering how important Tony was to him.

The film provides some hints about Peter's life in those few months (such as him and May helping people who were snapped and now struggle) but overall, it doesn't deal with Peter's loss.

Aunt May's Reaction To Peter's Secret Identity

Spider-Man: Far from Home Spider-Man and aunt May talk to the press

It made for a fun cliffhanger at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. May saw her nephew in the Spider-Man costume and let out a strong expletive. The next time the films have them together, aunt May seems perfectly okay with Peter being Spider-Man and risking his life on a regular basis.

It feels like there's some kind of middle ground missing that would explain how she got over it in the end, considering Peter originally didn't want her to know because he claims she would freak out.
