Unless things change in the future, as many fans are still hoping, the MCU won’t have Spider-Man included anymore. Instead, the character will fall back to Sony. According to Tom Holland, as of now, Disney doesn't have any plans to include the character in upcoming films. While many fans are upset about this, given that they’ve grown to love the portrayal of Peter Parker in the MCU, there is still some hope that Tom Holland will still play the character. However, there are many other characters from the MCU’s Spider-Man films that will be missed, as well as others who won’t be.

We’ve put together a list of the six characters we are really going to miss from the MCU’s Spider-Man and four that we are happy to let go of.

MISS: MARIA HILL

Unfortunately, the character of Maria Hill has been somewhat underutilized in the MCU overall. So getting to see her in Spider-Man: Far From Home was rather a treat, even if it didn’t turn out to be the real Maria Hill after all. Hopefully the MCU will find ways to include and utilize her character going forward in some of their other properties. And we hope they include the real Maria Hill, not just the Skrull version, as this seems like a strange path to take long-term.

WON’T: TONY STARK

While fans love Tony Stark, many have also pointed out their frustrations with so much of Peter Parker’s story centering around Tony. They have noted that there is a lot of material from Spider-Man comics to draw from and much of that has been ignored to make Peter somewhat of the next Iron Man. While Tony Stark is dead, his influence on Peter Parker and his films was still rather large and noticeable, and we won’t be sad to see that go.

MISS: HAPPY HOGAN

Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan - Forehead of Security

While this might seem counterintuitive given that Happy’s character is so connected to Tony Stark, without Happy being in the Spider-Man movies, it’s hard to imagine a place for him in the MCU. With Spider-Man not being in the MCU anymore, it seems unlikely that we will see much of Happy Hogan moving forward. We hope they will find some way to incorporate him into future films having to do with Pepper Potts or Tony and Pepper’s daughter Morgan.

WON’T: FLASH THOMPSON

While Flash Thompson might be a character from the comics, his portrayal in the MCU wasn’t our favorite. He definitely had some hilarious moments, but the character himself isn’t likable at all. His main characteristic is being a bully towards Peter Parker while loving Spider-Man. While Flash functioned just fine in Far From Home, there’s no real reason to have him in any future movies and it seems unlikely that he will be, given the change back to Sony.

MISS: AUNT MAY

Aunt May is definitely a likable character. She is a staple of every Spider-Man story, and she’s one of the most important people in Peter’s life. While hopefully, Marisa Tomei will still take on the role of Aunt May in future movies, we will just have to wait to find out. One positive note about the switch however, is that Aunt May might be focused on more  as Peter’s main parental figure, seeing as how too much of this role was given to Iron Man in the MCU version.

WON’T: NICK FURY

Nick Fury is a character that many fans love, and we definitely want to see him in future MCU films. We especially want to see him as himself again and figure out what he gets up to, as the last time we saw Nick he was actually a Skrull. But while Nick Fury is a great character, there is room to incorporate characters from the Spider-Man comics here instead. Nick Fury isn’t necessary to Peter Parker’s story, but we do hope to see him in other films and shows.

MISS: MJ

MJ in Spider-Man Far From Home

MJ is another character we really hope to see more of in Sony’s Spider-Man movies. While she wasn’t given that big of a role in Homecoming, she was starting to come into her own as a character in Far From Home. Plus, Zendaya is an actress who has a lot of potential to bring nuance to the character. The MCU’s take on the Mary Jane character brings a fresh perspective that gives MJ more agency and personality, and we hope to see that continue going forward.

WON’T: MYSTERIO

Mysterio bonds with Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Given that Mysterio dies at the end of Far From Home, it was somewhat unlikely he was going to come back for a future film anyway. This is probably for the best, as he functioned how he needed to as a villain already. Also, the whole storyline with him being inspired to do evil because of Iron Man was a bit boring and played out. The MCU has had too many characters like this, and so it just felt tired.

MISS: NED LEEDS

Ned Leeds in the MCU movies is an absolutely delightful addition and take on the character. The friendship between Ned and Peter is exceptionally sweet and supportive. Ned is loyal to Peter and always has his back when it comes to Peter’s superhero duties. It would be a shame to not include the character in future films, as fans have really enjoyed his kind heart and humor.

MISS: PETER PARKER

pETER pARKER

Obviously, Peter Parker will still be in any Spider-Man movie moving forward, and, as far as we know now, the character will still be played by Tom Holland for a while. This is definitely comforting, but there are still things about the MCU’s interpretation of the character that we will miss. It will be a bit upsetting not to get to see him interact with any of the Avengers or other MCU characters.
