Spider-Man 3 may not be set for release until the end of next year, but it's all Marvel fans can talk about at the moment, because it's currently filming... and some very interesting casting information seems to be coming out! It has been rumored for quite some time that this film would be launching a live-action Spider-Verse, with the return of previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, as well as previous love interests MJ and Gwen. That is still unconfirmed, but it also being reported that some of these previous Peters' villains will be joining the fray: Jamie Foxx as Electro, and now Alfred Molina as Doc Ock.

Officially, these rumors have not been confirmed by Sony or Marvel, but now that Molina's return as Doc Ock has been widely reported, fans are having a field day with the news. Some are thrilled at the idea of a live-action Spider-Verse, but others are concerned that this is going to make the third MCU Spider-Man movie too crowded, leading to problems fitting everything in. Whether they are for or against it, though, everyone has something to say!

Spider-Pop Gets A Cameo

With so many villains (and potential Spider-Man versions) appearing in the new film, fans are starting to wonder if some more ridiculous Spider-Types could pop up... or should that be, 'popsicle up'?

This sad and slightly disturbing melted popsicle is a favorite photo for Spider-Man fans on the internet (and yes, it is a real frozen treat, and proof that a whole lot of food doesn't look anything like it does in the pictures!) - but could it appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Funnily enough, it almost already has! In Spider-Man: Homecoming, after Spidey pins his bad guy to a chair with webbing, he says he will be stuck there for hours... to which Aaron replies that he has ice cream in the trunk, and it's going to melt. Could this be that melted ice cream?

Spider-Smash Brothers

The template for this 'new foe has appeared' meme has been used for just about everything - hardships, frustrations, rent, the average Tuesday... but it's particularly appropriate for Spider-Man 3! With so many new (or rather, old) villains appearing, Spidey is going to be playing a real life game of Smash Brothers, taking on villain after villain.

Holland Only Gets A Cameo

Unsurprisingly, a lot of the memes being made to poke fun at the upcoming film and its abundance of villains and previous Peters wonder just how much time there will be for Tom Holland!

As it stands, if the rumors are true, the film will involve three Spideys, past love interests, multiple villains, and the set up for a multiverse (and potentially the Sinister Six). That's a whole lot to cram in, and maybe the only way to do it will be to boot out the main Spider-Man of this universe.

How Many Cast Members?

Presumably, Tom Holland's Spider-Man will still be taking center stage, but there are enough rumored cast members to make fans wonder just how big his role will be... of course, fans should be reassured by the fact that the MCU has plenty of experience creating films with absolutely massive casts. One of the best things about the recent phase of MCU movies has been the huge team-ups and team up fights, so whether Tom Holland gets sidelined or not, it's likely the film will still make it work.

Spider-Man's Biggest Battle

Everyone loves the big fight scenes in superhero movies - part of the appeal is seeing the eye-popping stunts that these heroes can pull off. And with the possibility of multiple Spideys teaming up against multiple villains, Spider-Man 3 could be offering some truly epic battles. But, if the movie attempts to give all of these characters a decent amount of screentime, battling for spoken lines and character development may be the one fight that every webslinger has to take on!

A Different Take On Screentime

While many of the reactions seem to be concerned that each Spider-Man, villain, love interest (and any other character they choose to throw in) will get a large chunk of screen time and create a crowded movie, some are wondering if all this might be an overreaction... if these characters only pop up for a scene or two, or maybe just a post-credits! This could actually be a great way to set up a multiverse a little more slowly, but it would certainly be a disappointment to the fans who are now assuming that this film will launch the Spider-Verse in full.

What If It's A New Doc Ock?

The most common assumption from these casting rumors is that (as mentioned) Spider-Man 3 will be setting up the Spider-Verse and bringing in the same Doc Ock from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2.

However, fans have also pointed out that this particular version of Otto died at the end of the movie - so how does that work? Perhaps this is a new version of Otto Octavius... and it's just very, very lazy casting. Then again, if it ain't broke...

Get Wanda Vision Involved...

Of course, Spider-Man 3 isn't the only Marvel project set for next year - on the small screen, Wandavision is going to take fans into a different kind of strange multiverse - so it only makes sense for fans to create this crossover reaction tweet. As Wanda tries to work out how much screentime would be left for Peter, other fans would probably love to see her and Vision crashing on into the film too. Why not?

The Ultimate Spider-Verse Moment

This may be the most memed Spider-meme, and with good reason... so of course, if the MCU is going to create a full-blown Spider-Verse in the next film, everyone is going to want just a little moment of Spider-recognition. Sure, this exists to an extent in Into The Spider-Verse, but seeing this exact scene play out would just take it to the next level.

This Character, I Like It. Another!

Finally, fans are just having some fun with the idea that at this point, pretty much anyone could be announced as joining the increasingly massive cast of this film. Multiple Spider-Men, each with friends, love interests, and villains? Why not just keep tossing in more? As news (or rather, widely-reported rumors) have continued to circulate that MJ and Gwen Stacey are joining the original two Peters and Electro and Doc Ock, as well as the confirmed appearance of Doctor Strange, Tom Holland's Spider-Man, and the usual Spidey-cast from the MCU... well, it is starting to seem that the MCU is just really into Spider-Man characters at the moment. Let's see how many more get added before the film's release!
