At the moment, the end of the MCU's Phase 6 is running the risk of simply becoming a repeat of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, but one theory could suggest how the Phase 6 Avengers films can set themselves apart. The Infinity Saga came to a head with two massive Avengers events, which featured a major battle between the Avengers and the Mad Titan, Thanos, which saw the superheroes lose before they succeeded in saving the universe in a larger-scale fight. This worked as it was the first time viewers had seen a superhero battle to this scale on screen, but this can't be repeated in the Multiverse Saga.

Since the Multiverse Saga kicked off in 2021 with the release of WandaVision on Disney+, Marvel Studios has introduced many new heroes to their ever-growing roster, who will surely have a part to play in the battle against Kang the Conqueror and the subsequent events of Avengers: Secret Wars. This, however, brings Phase 6 closer to simply rehashing old plot lines, when it should be bringing something completely new to the table. One major theory from Reddit could provide an answer to the perfect direction for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars while making sense for the overarching MCU story.

There Are Too Many Heroes For The Final Multiverse Saga Battle

final battle in avengers endgame

Avengers: Endgame ended in a breathtaking final battle between Thanos and his army and the Avengers and their allied forces, allowing a few moments where practically every hero from the MCU's past shared the spotlight. Marvel fans won't soon forget the epic team-up that saw Thanos finally be defeated, but while this was a remarkable spectacle, Marvel Studios has to avoid rehashing these events in the upcoming The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Not least because there are far more heroes that have now been introduced into the MCU since the start of Phase 4.

With the likes of the Eternals, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, the Thunderbolts, Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, the Fantastic Four, and more all being introduced before the end of Phase 6, the idea of a huge team-up battle at the end of Secret Wars now only means that the action will be over-saturated, and no character will get the screen-time they deserve. The Multiverse Saga's debut of new heroes is building up to something huge, but featuring this amount of characters in one battle would be too overwhelming. The new introductions are also all involved in separate storylines, whether they be cosmic or street-level, so they perhaps wouldn't make sense operating together.

The Kang Dynasty & Secret Wars Should Be Two Separate Stories

One way for this to work would be to split The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars into two separate stories, especially since there is already speculation that the two Avengers films won't be connected at all. This would mean that particular heroes can be featured in one film that then might not have much action in the other, allowing every character to get enough development and avoiding a repeat of a final battle along the lines of Avengers: Endgame. Marvel Studios has to keep innovating with the MCU, so the Multiverse Saga needs to be different from what came before. Luckily, the concept of the multiverse creates the perfect opportunity.

The multiverse has been teased, but not really explained in detail, during the MCU's Phase 4, with projects such as Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Spider-Man: No Way Home laying the foundations upon which Phases 5 and 6 can expand. Phase 5 is set to kick off with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will introduce Kang the Conqueror in full force, setting up the events of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. While that story unravels, the idea of alternate realities and multiversal variants have been laying the groundwork for Avengers: Secret Wars, so the two projects are already being set up as two separate stories.

The New Avengers Can Form In MCU Phase 6

the new avengers in future mcu films

After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the retirement of Steve Rogers, and the tragic deaths of Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff, the status of the Avengers in the MCU is unclear, though it seems no official team has formed in the wake of Thanos' attack on Earth. Even so, several established heroes have been teased about stepping up as a member of the Avengers team, such as Sam Wilson taking on the mantle of Captain America and Shang-Chi being approached by Wong, Bruce Banner, and Captain Marvel. It's likely that the "New Avengers" team will form before the end of the Multiverse Saga, probably for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

This plays right into the hand of the Reddit theory, which suggests that The Kang Dynasty will explore the formation of the New Avengers and their fight against Kang the Conqueror, while Secret Wars will investigate a different story altogether. This could also see the formation of the much-teased Young Avengers team in the MCU and potentially the inclusion of the Thunderbolts in the battle against Kang. This would certainly be a palatable volume of superheroes battling the big-bad, while fresh but familiar faces, can take part in the events of Avengers: Secret Wars.

Secret Wars Can Focus On Other MCU Realities

characters from non-mcu marvel movies

Since the 616-universe's heroes are posed to appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Secret Wars has the perfect opportunity to focus on multiversal heroes. There's been speculation since Avengers: Secret Wars was announced that characters from the now-defunct Fox X-Men universe, the previous Fantastic Four films, Sony's Spider-Man series', and other non-MCU Marvel properties could be appearing in the Multiverse Saga's climactic project. With the inclusion of Deadpool and Wolverine in the MCU's upcoming Deadpool 3, this seems even more likely, but the Reddit theory suggests that Secret Wars could be told entirely from their multiversal perspective.

This could be the perfect payoff for the MCU's multiverse setup since viewers would get a glimpse into these other universes and perhaps see them pay the price for characters in the MCU proper meddling across realities. This is particularly the case for the Fox X-Men universe as Avengers: Secret Wars could see that reality be destroyed by an incursion, ready for the characters to be rebooted in the MCU. By splitting The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars into two separate stories, the MCU's Phase 6 can perfectly honor each character, established and new, and create an epic story that rivals the end of Avengers: Endgame.
