MCU Phase 4 is introducing three new weapons that all might be stronger than Mjölnir. The franchise has featured plenty of powerful weapons so far, including Captain America’s shield, Thanos’ double-edged sword, Loki’s scepter, Black Panther’s vibranium suit, and of course, Thor’s iconic hammer and his Stormbreaker ax. But from the looks of it, those all may pale in comparison to what’s to come in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, and Thor: Love and Thunder.

So far, much of Phase 4 has been spent setting up new lore and characters for the MCU. The multiverse has become the new central focus of the overarching story, opening up countless possibilities for more obscure, mythic, and dangerous parts of the Marvel comics universe to enter into Disney’s movies and shows. Plus, as the franchise’s ensemble of heroes grows in size and power, they demand new and more deadly threats to keep the stories interesting for longtime audiences.

It looks like Marvel is bringing some major new dangers in Phase 4, with at least three weapons coming in the next few films that could be more powerful than Stormbreaker or even Mjölnir itself. Whether those weapons remain a threat to the MCU or are brought to fight on the side of good remains to be seen, but they should shake up the story in some exciting ways. Here are the most powerful new weapons coming in MCU Phase 4.

The Ten Rings – Shang-Chi

As the title implies, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will introduce ancient bracelets known as the Ten Rings, immensely powerful alien relics wielded most commonly in the comics by the Mandarin. A recent trailer for the film includes a scene where Shang-Chi is told that the rings are “stronger than anything in your universe,” followed by a shot of Mjölnir. The rings aren’t explicitly more powerful than Thor’s hammer in the comics, but it seems that they will be decisively in the MCU. They’ve already been changed significantly based on what’s been shown in the trailers, so it should be exciting to see what they can really do in the final film.

The Ebony Blade – Eternals

Marvel’s Eternals will introduce the titular superpowered race to the MCU, but it will also introduce classic comic hero Black Knight, played by Kit Harington. In the comics, the Black Knight wields an incredibly powerful weapon called the Ebony Blade, which was crafted from a meteor that fell to earth during medieval times. The comic book version of the sword carries several impressive powers, including the ability to deflect most magic, cut through nearly anything, and even prevent its wielder from dying. However, the Ebony Blade also comes with a deadly curse, which slowly corrupts its wielder over time.

All-Black The Necrosword – Thor: Love And Thunder

In Thor 4, the MCU will meet one of Marvel’s most dangerous villains in Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale). A bloodthirsty killer bent on destroying all gods, Gorr first came to power after acquiring All-Black, a necrosword previously wielded by Knull, the King in Black. The blade holds the power of the Celestials themselves, capable of killing anything and even summoning powerful dark magic. If the MCU’s Gorr wields the same sword, the action in Thor: Love and Thunder should be something to see, with it perhaps even having repercussions for the future MCU Phase 4 at large.
