Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Loki episode 3, "Lamentis."

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 continues exploring the stories of previously introduced characters, and in some cases, it’s either adding or enhancing some of their powers. Such is the case of Loki, as on his very own TV show one of his powers has been getting stronger, and it’s one the MCU forgot for a long time. With the Infinity Saga now over, the MCU is finally moving forward with its Phase 4, which will cover both TV shows and movies, further expanding this connected universe. Phase 4 began on the TV side with WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and it’s now reuniting viewers with the God of Mischief in Loki.

Although Loki was killed by Thanos at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War, the time heist in Avengers: Endgame allowed his 2012 version to escape, thus making it possible for him to return in Phase 4. Loki, then, sees the title character being brought to the Time Variance Authority (TVA), an organization that oversees the timeline and makes sure everything goes according to plan. The TVA will seize Loki’s talents to catch another Loki variant that has been causing chaos across time and space: Lady Loki/Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), but as this is 2012 Loki, he can’t be fully trusted, and he has now joined his other variant.

Episode 3 of Loki saw him working alongside Sylvie, but before they could join forces, he went after her to stop her from getting to the Time Keepers. Through a TemPad, Loki sent both to Lamentis-1 in 2077, a moon that was about to be crushed by a planet. With their TemPad out of power, Sylvie and Loki had to find a way to recharge it and escape before it was too late, but their plan didn’t go as expected and the TemPad ended up broken. Loki and Sylvie then decided the only way to survive was to hijack the Ark and make sure it left the moon, and they had to fight many guards and dodge a lot of destruction on their way there. It’s during that sequence that Loki uses telekinesis to stop a big piece of a building from crushing him and Sylvie, showing that this power is getting stronger.

Loki Episode 3 Loki And Sylvia Talking Vertical

Loki has a variety of powers, but the ones he has used the most throughout his MCU history are those related to magic, taught to him by his (adoptive) mother, Frigga, but he has other useful powers as well. Telekinesis is one of the most underused powers possessed by Loki that have appeared sporadically in the MCU, most notably in Thor: The Dark World when he heard of Frigga’s death. This power came back in Loki episode 2 during his first fight with Sylvie, in which he pulled an object that was far away and blocked an oncoming attack with it, but that wasn’t as impressive nor powerful as what he did during the apocalypse in Lamentis-1 to save his and Sylvie's life.

With still a couple more episodes to go, Loki could continue seizing the God of Mischief’s forgotten and underused powers to potentially make him more powerful than his original version, and through that, help the audience get to know him better. As for telekinesis, Loki will surely continue to use it for the rest of the series, as it has come in handy so far in critical moments, and combined with other powers, it can make way for a memorable visual spectacle.
