The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4 included several new shows, but only two of them are getting second seasons. Following the launch of Disney+, Marvel Studios started to produce original series for the streaming platform. The MCU TV shows have focused on supporting characters who typically do not get as much screen time in the movies, as well as giving Marvel Comics characters their live-action debuts.

The MCU Disney+ TV shows have been hugely popular and met with critical acclaim, but only two of them, Loki and What If...? have been renewed for season 2. Out of the eight TV shows, it makes sense that those two have been renewed given Loki played a huge part in introducing the MCU's next big bad, Kang the Conquerer, while What If...? is able to tell stories that are separate from the main MCU timeline. For the remaining shows, sequels haven't been ruled out, but in most cases, there are other plans for the characters involved.

Why Loki & What If...? Are Getting Second Seasons

Loki introduced He Who Remains, a variant of Kang the Conquerer. Loki season 2 is set for release in 2023 and will be a chance for the MCU to further explore the Multiverse Saga’s Thanos-level threat, Kang, and the multiverse, having already established the lore of the TVA. What If...? is a unique entry into the MCU given that the anthology stories focus on variant versions of popular Marvel characters. The end of the What If...? season 1 made it clear there were more stories to tell, so the show being renewed for season 2 makes sense as it can explore those stories separate from the MCU's main storyline. The first episode will focus on Captain Carter and has been confirmed to be released in 2023.

Why No Other Phase 4 Disney+ TV Show Has Been Officially Renewed - Yet

Some of the MCU Disney+ shows have not announced season 2, but the characters' stories will continue on the big screen. Ms. Marvel’s titular hero will feature in 2023's The Marvels, and will presumably pick up from the show's mysterious mid-credits scene that saw Ms. Marvel switch places with Captain Marvel. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will similarly be followed up with Captain America: New World Order, set for release in 2024, and will see Sam Wilson's Captain America appear alongside The Leader and Thaddeus Ross, although Bucky Barnes's The Winter Soldier has not yet been confirmed to appear.

WandaVision’s main storyline continued in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with Wanda Maximoff continuing her violent search for her children. WandaVision is also set to have two spinoff series, Agatha: Coven of Chaos which will premiere in 2023, and Vision Quest which is still in development. Hawkeye will also get a spin-off, rather than a direct sequel, with Maya Lopez returning in Echo in 2023. The futures of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop are currently unknown, but it would be surprising if they didn't show up in the MCU's Phase 5.

Moon Knight is almost guaranteed to return after the show's mid-credit scene revealed Marc Spector's third alter-ego, Jake Lockley, was working with Khonshu. The biggest risk comes from actor Oscar Isaac, who is keen to return but is not contractually locked into any future MCU appearances. While he might return in a movie or a Moon Knight season 2, it has not been announced yet. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's final Phase 4 TV show, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, hasn't yet been renewed and may not be given Kevin Feige has previously stated that after her series, Jen Walters would cross over to MCU movies.
