Warning: Spoilers for Moon Knight episode 4.

Moon Knight and Thor: Love and Thunder confirm the existence of two MCU deities just as powerful as Odin in MCU Phase 4. Before the death of the Asgardian All-Father in Thor: Ragnarok, Odin's rule extended over the Nine Realms, which included worlds as distant as the Frost Giants' Jotunheim to more familiar places like Midgard, a.k.a Earth. But the Marvel Cinematic Universe is even bigger than the Infinity Saga made it look, as entire pantheons filled with gods from different cultures are only beginning to appear in new MCU movies and shows.

The introduction of the Eternals and the Celestials suggested that the divine hierarchy of the MCU is different from that of real-world mythology. However, Phase 4 continues to reveal how extensive the MCU really is. Moon Knight has introduced the Egyptian pantheon to the MCU, and Thor: Love and Thunder will confirm the existence of the Greek gods, who have been notably absent from the Marvel Cinematic Universe until now.

Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon and mentor to all Moon Knights, has been a rogue god who has interacted with humanity through avatars such as Marc Spector and Arthur Harrow. However, he's not the only Egyptian deity in the MCU. Moon Knight episode 3 revealed that gods such as Horus and Hathor also use human avatars, and Moon Knight episode 4 directly introduced Taweret in her original hippo-headed form. This means that somewhere out there, Ra, king of the Egyptian gods, may still be active. At the same time, Zeus himself will lead the introduction of the MCU's Greek pantheon in Thor: Love and Thunder, where various deities are expected to be annihilated by Gorr the God Butcher. Like Odin, both Ra and Zeus are the principal gods of their respective mythologies, admired for their extensive history and their immense power.

Who Would Win In A Fight Between Ra and Zeus

Ra and Zeus in Marvel Comics

In Egyptian mythology, Ra is both the god of the sun and the creator of life and the universe. In Greek mythology, Zeus is the god of thunder and the sky. Both are kings and leaders of their respective pantheons, and they're able to punish any god or mortal who dares to disrespect them. Ra possesses greater skills than Zeus, such as the ability to harness the power of the sun and both create and merge with other gods, such as Amun and Atum. However, Zeus's feats make him a greater warrior, as he defeated the Titans and continuously defended his throne from all gods, demigods, and mortals.

In Marvel comics, Ra has waged a war against Khonshu, but just like the moon god and his Moon Knight avatars, Ra is only able to do it through a human avatar, who goes by the title of "Sun King." Zeus isn't limited by his physical form, and he has been able to participate in various wars and defeat enemies as powerful as the Hulk, who's completely humiliated by the Olympian god in battle. While a fight between the Ra and Zeus of real-world mythology could lean in favor of Ra, a match between these gods in the MCU would likely fall in favor of Zeus. However, one trick under Atum Ra's sleeve in Marvel comics is his ability to transform into the Demogorge, a nearly-unbeatable demonic entity that devours all gods with ease.

Even the most powerful gods aren't always safe. Odin enjoyed a rather peaceful demise before Hela arrived to destroy Asgard, but the MCU's Ra and Zeus might not be so lucky. Evil forces like Arthur Harrow and Thor: Love & Thunder's Gorr the God Butcher set their sights on universal-level conflicts, and potential villains like Scarlet Witch and Kang the Conqueror put the whole multiverse in peril. On a bright note, if Ra, Zeus, and other gods meet their end at the hands of Gorr the God Butcher in the MCU Phase 4, their legacy could live on through a new generation of godlike individuals like Sun King, Moon Knight, and Hercules.
