8 Biggest MCU Mysteries Phases 5 & 6 Need To Solve

Although the MCU has now reached Phase 5 with Phase 6 already planned and on the horizon, there are some ongoing questions in need of answering. Officially kicking off with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the second chapter of the Multiverse Saga promises to keep building off concepts introduced in Phase 4 such as alternate realities, variants, and incursions. Likewise, Phase 6 will bring the current saga to a close with films such as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

That being said, there are still some major questions and mysteries with some dating back to Phase 3 and several from Phase 4 that still need to be addressed. Not only are the statuses of several heroes still up in the air, but there's also the question of an entire team's existence that needs to be revealed, the power levels of new villains, and the oldest question of all regarding a certain building's ownership. Here are some of the biggest MCU mysteries Phases 5 and 6 could and should answer.

Who Bought Avengers Tower?

One of the MCU's biggest ongoing mysteries comes from 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. After six years, there haven't been any concrete clues as to who might have purchased Avengers Tower from Tony Stark. According to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Iron Man sold the building after constructing Avengers HQ upstate. However, Loki did feature an alternate version in the Void at the end of time, having been rebranded as Qeng Tower. In the comics, Qeng Tower is owned by Mister Gryphon, a variant of Kang who bought Avengers Tower from Stark. At any rate, the prevailing theory is that it's become the home of The Fantastic Four known as the Baxter Building.

What’s Going On With Eternals’ Giant Celestial Head?

At the end of Eternals, the titular immortal heroes prevented the birth of Tiamut, a new Celestial whose creation would have destroyed the Earth. While the new Prime Eternal Sersi managed to transmute Tiamut's body into marble, his gargantuan head and hand did break through the Earth's crust. Now, it's been confirmed by She-Hulk: Attorney at Law that the public is well aware of Tiamut and is very confused by the sudden appearance of a giant head and hand in the middle of the Indian Ocean. As such, the MCU needs to reveal what the global response will be to such a massive change in the global landscape.

Do The X-Men Exist In The MCU Since Mutants Do?

Marvel's Phase 4 confirmed that not one but two mutants already exist in the MCU. Rather than being an Inhuman as she is in the comics, Kamala Khan was confirmed to have mutant genes at the end of Ms. Marvel. Likewise, Namor was confirmed to be one of Earth's oldest mutants in the MCU as revealed in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. As such, does this mean that the X-Men team of mutants already exists in the MCU? What about Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters? Hopefully, this is something that will be confirmed either in 2024's Deadpool 3 or later on down the line.

Where Did Shang-Chi’s Rings Come From?

Left intentionally ambiguous in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the powerful Ten Rings Shang-Chi inherited from his father Wenwu still have unknown origins. Believed to have been found by the Mandarin in a cave or possibly from an alien spaceship, only Wenwu knew the truth but not even he was aware of who created them before he discovered the weapons. Likewise, Shang-Chi's post-credits scene confirmed that the Ten Rings are incredibly ancient and have also been sending a signal to some unknown destination in the Marvel Universe.

What Was Captain Marvel Doing Before Endgame?

Although Carol Danvers' Captain Marvel and her return to Earth provided some much-needed backup in Avengers: Endgame, there's still a rather big question mark behind what was doing after she left the planet in the mid-90s. Although Nick Fury had a pager to call her when needed, it seems as though he never felt the need to use it until Thanos' Decimation. As such, the best guess is that Carol became a cosmic hero and protector of the Skrulls during the almost three decades she was gone. However, it would be great if The Marvels were to confirm the specifics and if she ever briefly came back to Earth before 2023.

Will Daredevil Become An Avenger?

Thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Charlie Cox's Daredevil is officially part of the MCU. While there are still some questions about whether this version is the same as the one from the canceled Netflix series, Marvel Studios' upcoming Daredevil: Born Again show will hopefully clarify Murdock's history as well as whether Daredevil could potentially become an Avenger in the near future. It would certainly be exciting to see the Man Without Fear join Earth's Mightiest Heroes against the likes of Kang the Conqueror in Phase 6.

Will MJ and Ned Ever Remember Peter Parker Is Spider-Man?

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker gave up his identity in order to save the world from a multiversal incursion he inadvertently caused. In order for Doctor Strange to seal the rift, the entire world had to forget Parker Parker existed. This included Spider-Man's best friend Ned Leeds and girlfriend MJ. While he had planned to remind them who he was, Peter decides to not tell them instead, believing they'd be safer not remembering. As such, the recent confirmation that Spider-Man 4 is in the works does open the question of whether or not Peter will reveal himself to his friends in the sequel.

Are The Avengers Strong Enough To Defeat Kang?

It's currently hard to nail down the exact power levels of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. Although Kang claims he's killed countless versions of the Avengers throughout the multiverse, it seems some variants are more powerful than others. Likewise, it's more than likely that the Avengers will find themselves facing more than one Kang variant at a time once Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars release. For the time being, it doesn't look as though Earth's Mightiest Heroes have much of a chance against the new multiversal foe who's been set up as a major big bad in the MCU's Phases 5 and 6.
