A new piece of fan art imagines Keanu Reeves as Mister Sinister in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's X-Men film. Mister Sinister, a.k.a. Nathaniel Essex, has been apart of the Marvel universe since the late ‘80s and is often a villain of the X-Men. The character has been referenced in X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool 2, but has yet to make a live-action appearance.

Mister Sinister hasn’t appeared in a Marvel film yet, but neither has Reeves. Reeves has been a household name for years, but he has been involved with several projects these past few years including the John Wick series, Toy Story 4, and Cyberpunk 2077. The coming years look even more prosperous for Reeves, with the actor reprising his previous roles of John Wick, Ted Logan, and Neo for their respective movies. Reeves hasn’t signed his name on the dotted line for a Marvel contract just yet, but some fans want to see him play Mister Sinister.

New fan artwork from Bosslogic imagines what Reeves could look like as Mister Sinister if the character were to ever join the MCU. The artwork is fairly close to being comic accurate, but Reeve’s iconic beard gives a new twist to the character’s look. Bosslogic’s artwork can be seen below:

While 20th Century Fox may have had plans to eventually introduce Mister Sinister, all of their plans have gone out the window since Disney bought 20th Century Fox. Dark Phoenix was the most recent X-Men film to be released, and The New Mutants will be the final film that involves Fox’s ideas. While the X-Men storyline Fox started 20 years ago is pretty much finished at this point, Marvel has plans for the mutants. Kevin Feige confirmed at SDCC 2019 that the X-Men are coming to the MCU, but that all characters were being rebooted except for Deadpool. In fact, just recently it was revealed that Disney is currently developing Deadpool 3.

While Reeves hasn’t joined the MCU yet, it will no doubt happen eventually. Reeves is currently one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood, and Feige even once explained that they contact Reeves for almost every Marvel movie they make. It could be quite a while before fans see Mister Sinister in the MCU, especially since it’s expected to be a few years before the X-Men even make their debut. Regardless of what character he plays, fans will just be happy to see Reeves in the MCU.
