Fans who enjoy things like shipping or pining after fictional characters have probably wondered at one point or another which fictional characters they’d like to date. There are many heroic characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and almost all of the heroes, as well as many of the villains, are played by gorgeous actors and actresses.

So, as a fun thought exercise, it’s enjoyable to imagine how the men from the MCU would be like to date. Most of the men on this list are heroes from the story or at least aren’t actively villainous.

Loki

A closeup of Lokis face wearing his horns

Loki is the only character here that might not really be in the hero category. As the trickster god, he’s always going to be rather out for himself and to cause a little chaos.

So, while he might be attractive and exciting, he wouldn’t be great to date. The fact is that he will even betray his own brother and those closest to him at times, so having a connection with Loki is an unstable thing at best.

Stephen Strange

Doctor Strange only is higher up on this list than Loki because he’s not a literal god whose identity is wrapped up in being unreliable.

However, when Doctor Strange wasn’t his hero self and was just a regular, rich doctor, he wasn’t a great partner at all to Christine Palmer, and, while he might be a better person now, he still is pretty arrogant and self-centered.

Peter Quill

Peter Quill

Peter Quill is fairly low on this list for the reason that he’s not good at controlling his emotions and because he’s kind of insecure.

His reaction to learning about Gamora might be understandable, but he also was sort of responsible for the destruction of half the universe. He also is insecure about other men being around Gamora, and it’s just the kind of toxic masculinity that gets old.

Bruce Banner

Bruce Banner is a person with many great qualities, and he can also be a sweetheart. He’s incredibly intelligent, and he’s got a very gentle energy despite the fact that he turns into the Hulk.

However, fans see through his relationship with Black Widow (which was definitely a weird addition to the canon), that he doesn’t seem ready to be in a relationship. He’s a bit distant and he runs away from that relationship.

Rhodey

Rhodey, or James Rhodes, is another character fans never see have a romantic partner which is a bit of a shame. However, he does seem to always have a lot on his plate and is a rather serious person.

He can be a little bit straight-laced, but he is smart, funny, and more heroic than he often gets credit for. So, if he ever were to focus on love, he'd probably be a good boyfriend.

Tony Stark

Tony Stark in Avengers Endgame

Tony Stark starts out being one of the absolute worst boyfriends in the entire MCU. He’s selfish and won’t commit, and he tends to use people while being unwilling to let his walls down. His treatment of women in earlier movies is also rather appalling at times, and his relationship with Pepper has many ups and downs, and he definitely isn’t always great to her.

However, he does grow and change a lot, and he becomes a good husband and an even better father.

Sam Wilson

Sam Wilson meets Steve Rogers in Captain America The Winter Soldier

Sam Wilson might not have had any romantic partnerships in the MCU so far, but this doesn’t mean fans can’t assess he’d be a good partner based on his overall personality and his friendships.

Sam is also a very loyal person who will do a lot to help the people he’s close to. He was willing to help Steve and Natasha when they showed up at his house no questions asked. Also, he’s got a good sense of humor and is honest.

Thor

thor

Thor is sometimes an underrated member of the Avengers when it comes to relationships. While his relationship with Jane Foster was a bit lacking in the MCU because of storytelling and chemistry, Thor is a good person.

He’s usually jovial and fun to be around, and he also deeply cares about his friends and family. He would generally keep things light and a good time but would also be there for you when things were difficult.

Steve Rogers

Steve Rogers - Chris Evans

Steve Rogers is high on this list with the caveat that his behavior in Avengers: Endgame is out of character both with the MCU version and most comic book versions of the characters.

Steve is all about loyalty and risking his life to save the people he cares about, and he can also be caring and give some great, gentle advice. He definitely wouldn’t mess everything up by going back to the past, fans would like to hope. But, if fans include that part of the canon, he’d actually be one of the worst partners around and also one of the worst friends.

T’Challa

Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong'o as T'Challa and Nakia in Black Panther walk in the Wakandan market.

There’s no doubt that T’Challa would be one of the best partners of any character from the MCU. He’s got a good heart and is a good man through and through.

His relationship with Nakia might have some issues occasionally as she has more of a free spirit, but they are able to communicate and show love for each other. T’Challa cares about people and is always trying to do the right thing. Plus, he’s really attractive and has a great sense of style.
