Loki is Marvel's latest TV series that will be streaming on Disney+, starting June 9. Loki became one of the most fan-favorite characters in the MCU since his introduction in Thor. After being established as a Marvel villain in his early appearances, he slowly became an anti-hero with a redemption arc. Of course, this Loki is different, given the events of Infinity War and Endgame, and the series may potentially explore the multiverse.

The upcoming series showcases an alternate Loki who escaped his arrest after a few Avengers had a mishap in stealing the Tesseract during the time heist. He comes across an organization whose purpose is to monitor the timeline. While alternate Loki embarks on a thrilling ride of time travel, he also does not know the events that occurred after the Chitauri attack in New York and his personal growth in the original timeline.

Both His Adoptive Parents Are Dead

After learning about his true parentage as a Frost Giant, Loki has a complicated relationship with his adoptive parents. He particularly despised his adoptive father, Odin, who always favored Thor. However, Loki loved his mother, Frigga, who showed more affection to him.

Sadly, both Odin and Frigga died in the original timeline. Loki felt angry and heartbroken after learning Algrim killed his mother. Also, the original Loki briefly reconciled with Odin before he died of old age. This alternate Loki does not know these events, which means he still has issues with Odin, and it remains unclear if he kept communication with Frigga, who may still be alive in the series' timeline.

Thor Recruited Him To Stop Malekith

Despite their differences, the brothers worked together to stop Malekith from unleashing darkness on the Nine Realms since Loki knew a secret entrance of Dark Elves' home, Svartalfheim. Furthermore, he helped save Jane Foster. It was the first time that they fought together since Thor's coronation.

The alternate Loki has yet to team with Thor in the universe. It appears that he has not resolved issues with Thor nor made attempts to communicate with him.

He Faked His Death Again

There are many reasons why Loki is notorious as God of Mischief and The Trickster. Considering he is proficient with magic, he can manipulate illusions and can shapeshift. With his gifts, he uses his powers to fake his death again by creating an illusion of him getting stabbed by Kurse.

As far as this alternate Loki knows, he has only faked his death once after falling into a wormhole. However, Loki faking death has become a common motif in the Thor series, and alternate Loki may find it useful for his future schemes.

He Briefly Ruled Asgard As A Disguised Odin

Thor touches the shoulder of Loki as Odin in Thor Ragnarok

Loki knows how to shapeshift, so he used it to his advantage to somehow trick Odin, leave him on Earth in a retirement home, and rule Asgard under the disguise of Odin. It makes sense because Loki always had ambitions of ruling Asgard and felt that he would be a better king than Thor. In a way, Loki was a good ruler since Asgardians were happy under his rule for four years and enjoyed the play that recounts Loki's second fake death.

Unfortunately, alternate Loki did not have the opportunity to rule Asgard like the original one. However, the trailers tease his ambitions of being a ruler in other ways. If anything, his experience in Asgard may have hinted at his abilities as a ruler.

Doctor Strange Put Loki In An Unknown Space

Loki again travels to Earth as he helps Thor to locate their father. Of course, given Loki's history on Earth and how he almost tried to conquer it, he is not well-liked nor welcomed there. Doctor Strange, a sorcerer, felt Loki's presence and briefly put him in an unknown space to prevent Loki from executing any potential schemes.

This moment shows a common theme in that Loki is never trusted and somehow imprisoned in some way. However, this approach seems like a unique one from chains and shackles. While alternate Loki may not be aware of these moments or his encounter with Doctor Strange, the trailers already show a glimpse of Loki imprisoned by the TVA.

Hela Is His Adoptive Sister

Hela about to battle in Thor: Ragnarok

The events of Ragnarok do not occur for another four to five years after the events in New York. The original Loki learns about his adoptive sister and Odin's first child, Hela, as Odin is moments away from dying. His death frees Hela from imprisonment, and her conquest of Asgard causes Thor and Loki to team up and defeat Hela.

Therefore, this alternate Loki has yet to meet his secret adoptive sister, who is more sinister and darker than him. Funnily, Hela and Loki have a lot in common, like costume color preferences, ambitions of ruling Asgard, and being horrible siblings to Thor.

He Encountered The Incredible Hulk In Sakaar

In perhaps the funniest and most memorable scene in the MCU, the Hulk single-handedly annihilated Loki at Stark Tower and called him "puny god." It seems that the original Loki was traumatized by the experience since he looked terrified when the Hulk appeared in Sakaar at the Contest of Champions, and Loki wanted to leave.

It is assumed that this alternate Loki is also afraid of the Hulk. However, he may be more relieved that he has yet to meet the Hulk again.

Ragnarok Happens & He Helped Rescue Asgardians

Loki may not be Asgardian by birth, but Asgard has always been his home. Therefore, alternate Loki is not aware of Ragnarok that led to the destruction of Asgard.

Furthermore, the original Loki joined the Revengers to rescue the remaining Asgardians before Surtur caused the inevitable doomsday. It showed Loki's growth and selflessness while also swaying away from his mischievous acts.

Original Loki Finally Reconciled With Thor

Loki and Thor have a long history of sibling rivalry, with most people loving Thor over Loki. Loki immensely disliked Thor and felt jealous of his adoration from others.

However, they are just like any siblings who hate each other at one point and then love each other later on. As Ragnarok unfolded, Loki and Thor bonded and reconciled their differences. Unfortunately, alternate Loki may not experience this moment in his timeline, although he may still have some feelings of brotherly love for Thor.

Infinity War Occurs & Thanos Kills Him

Thanos kills Loki in Avengers: Infinity War

In the original timeline, Thanos finds Thor and Loki in space to retrieve the space stone and finally execute his diabolical plan to wipe out half the universe. Considering Loki had a change of heart since Ragnarok, he fought alongside Thor to stop Thanos from succeeding in his plan. Sadly, Thanos kills Loki by crushing his neck.

Fans always thought Loki was invincible from death since he repeatedly faked them, so his actual death was a huge shock. Luckily, the time heist allowed alternate Loki to escape this inevitable moment and created the events of the upcoming series.
