While some of the most inspirational Steve moments have to do more with emotions or him sticking up to bullies, this one showcases more of his physical prowess in a battle situation.

The elevator scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier is just exciting to watch, and it shows just how strong Steve really is as he takes on an entire host of enemies including Brock Rumlow. He also manages to fall dozens of stories and survive with barely a scratch.

Felt Sorry: When he went to Peggy’s funeral

Peggy Carter's Funeral in Captain America Civil War

One of the more tragic moments in Steve’s life is when he goes to see Peggy during Captain America: Civil War. He sees her as she’s old and clearly dying, and it’s extremely emotional for both of them.

Then, when Steve learns that Peggy has died, he drops everything to go to her funeral and is clearly really impacted by the loss of someone that he cared about so much. While the Endgame ending takes away some of the emotional impact of this scene, it’s still really tragic.

Inspirational: “I can do this all day.”

This is the Captain America quote from the franchise that people know the best. He actually says this multiple times, and it’s always when he’s in a situation where he won’t back down.

The first time he says this is in Captain America: The First Avenger in the alleyway when he’s getting beat up by a bully. He also says it in Civil War during the fight with Iron Man. This quote is inspiring because it encapsulates all that Steve stands for and how he’s always stubbornly trying to do what he thinks is right.

Felt Sorry: When he wasn’t able to join the army

Steve might have had some misplaced ideas about fighting in the war being the only way to show bravery, but there was still something heroic about how he wanted to fight bullies. Steve wanted to be able to go with Bucky and join the Army, but he wasn’t able to because of his health concerns.

It’s clear that Steve did have good intentions and wanted to help even if he also had something to prove.

Inspirational: Being able to wield Mjolnir

While many people have issues with how Steve Roger’s character arc was ended in Endgame, most people can agree that the moment where he was able to wield Mjolnir was rather exciting.

This was a moment that had many fans cheering, and it was definitely inspiring as he is the only other person besides Thor and Vision who has been able to wield the hammer so far in the MCU. Clearly, Steve is someone who has a pure heart.

Felt Sorry: The fight at the end of Civil War

Iron Man and Captain America have a rocky relationship in the MCU, but they do still care about each other and have a bond of friendship. So, when Steve has to fight with him at the end of Civil War to protect Bucky, it’s clear it’s devastating for them both. Steve obviously needs to protect his best friend, but he clearly doesn’t want to have to hurt Tony in the process.

Seeing these two, and also the Avengers as a team, get ripped apart is hard to watch.

Inspirational: When he went to save Bucky and the other Howling Commandos

Steve is someone who has a lot of ideals and cares about saving the world, but he also really cares about the people he is closest to.

When he learns that Bucky and his unit have been captured by Red Skull, he is willing to walk hundreds of miles to rescue him. He clearly will do practically anything to keep those he loves safe, and it’s an inspiring moment that says a lot about the lengths Steve is willing to go.

Felt Sorry: Leaving all of his friends behind to go to the past

If there’s one thing about Steve Rogers in the MCU that has been considered controversial, it’s that he left all of his friends in order to go back to the past and be with Peggy.

It didn’t make a lot of sense given the time travel rules of the movie, and it also felt out of character to many Steve fans. Seeing him leave everyone behind after what they’d all gone through had fans feeling sorry for him and for his closest friends like Bucky and Sam.

Inspirational: When he threw himself on the grenade

One of the most iconic moments that showed who Steve was as a character was when he threw himself on the grenade during training in The First Avenger.

While the grenade turned out to be a fake, it showed that he was willing to sacrifice himself to save others. Even though he still hasn't received the serum at this point, this moment showed his true character and inspired many fans.

Felt Sorry: When he lost Bucky...multiple times

Bucky being snapped

For almost all of Captain America’s movies, one of the biggest motivating factors for him as a character is Bucky Barnes. He spends so much time losing Bucky and trying to save him.

First, Bucky dies. Then, Steve discovers he’s alive as the Winter Soldier and tries to save him only for Bucky to slip away again. Then, Bucky is lost in the Snap. Overall, it’s clear that the relationship with Bucky is really important to Steve, and seeing him go through that trauma over and over is sad.
