Kerry Condon, who voices Tony Stark's artificial intelligence F.R.I.D.A.Y in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, expresses interest in potentially making her live-action debut in the franchise. Condon has been voicing F.R.I.D.A.Y. in the MCU since 2015, when she replaced Paul Bettany's J.A.R.V.I.S. after the character evolved into Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ever since then, Condon has been the voice inside Tony Stark's Iron Man suits in all subsequent appearances of the character, all the way until the hero's death in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.

The MCU is no stranger to reusing actors for different characters in their projects, especially when they are only portraying minor characters or if the actor is only portraying a character with their voice. The latter was the case for Bettany as he voiced J.A.R.V.I.S., but physically portrayed Vision in all subsequent projects. However, while the decision to use Bettany as both J.A.R.V.I.S. and Vision worked from a story decision, there have been other cases where the MCU used one actor to portray multiple characters who were unrelated to one another. In some cases, an actor would portray a smaller character in an earlier film and go on to have a larger role in a future project, and with the MCU constantly expanding its character roster, it makes sense that many of these actors would want opportunities to be a bigger part of the franchise.

One previous actor who appears to be interested in this opportunity is Condon. In a recent interview with Variety, Condon reveals whether she would ever want to don a super suit herself. Check out her full quote below:

"Yeah, of course. I think people can sort of limit themselves. I think it's a little bit stupid because it's great fun doing those things. I also like watching things just for entertainment. I'm not always in the form for something deep or whatever. I think there is room for everything in our industry. You can't necessarily be snobby about things."

How FRIDAY Can Transition To Live-Action

It appears that Condon is enthusiastic about the idea of actually portraying a superhero or villain herself. If the opportunity does arise, it would be interesting to see how the transition to a live-action character would work for her. She could potentially take a similar route that Benedict Cumberbatch did, who portrayed Doctor Strange while also voicing his own nemesis Dormammu without any in-universe reason for it. However, she could also follow in the steps of her A.I. predecessor J.A.R.V.I.S., by having a story that evolves F.R.I.D.A.Y into a new character like Vision. Although Tony Stark is currently gone from the MCU, there has been no indication on whether F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s programming is still online and if she will be utilized by other characters in the future.

With an Armor Wars film in development focusing on Don Cheadle's James Rhodes/War Machine dealing with Stark technology falling into the wrong hands, the premise keeps an open window for F.R.I.D.A.Y to have a large role. After all, as seen with Ultron, any A.I. created by Stark holds the potential of causing a global threat, and that could happen to F.R.I.D.A.Y. if that is the technology Armor Wars centers its story around. While Condon does not specify if the live-action character she wants to portray would be a hero or villain, it appears that the thought of donning some sort of suit in the MCU excites her and that she would enjoy the opportunity to do so. It remains to be seen what that opportunity would be.
