Eternals features one of the most diverse ensembles in MCU history. Ten characters arrive into Marvel lore, each with unique abilities and traits that make them instantly unforgettable. The movie is also notorious for being the MCU debut of two of Game of Thrones' most recognizable actors, Richard Madden and Kit Harington.

At first glance, Eternals and GOT might not seem to have much in common. However, fans can see similar qualities between the characters in the film and the shows' many figures. And while it won't always be a perfect fit, it's close enough to build a bridge between these two sprawling and fantastical worlds.

Dane Whitman - Jon Snow

Years later, and Kit Harington's character still knows nothing. Dane has barely any screentime in Eternals, and what little he has, he spends it asking questions and looking confused. It's not until the end that he takes control of his narrative, setting up the stage for his inevitable integration into the larger MCU.

Jon Snow was undoubtedly the hero of Game of Thrones, even if he could also be frustrating at times. Both Dane and Jon pick up the sword out of duty, but they assume their responsibilities with courage and slight resignation. They're also team players and aren't afraid of following orders. They also fall in love with women who lead them down an increasingly dangerous path.

Sprite - Olly

Sprite's character and the decisions she makes are arguably the biggest surprises in Eternals. Fans expect her to be a sweet and innocent child, the "heart" of the team even, but the role takes a completely unexpected turn in the film's second act.

Olly is low-key a villain in Game of Thrones; he killed Jon Snow, after all. Sprite isn't quite as villainous, but she still shares some DNA with Olly. They're both treacherous and scheming, unable to see the larger picture and instead focusing only on themselves and their interests.

Gilgamesh - Ser Jorah Mormont

Gilgamesh is easily one of the most likable characters in Eternals. He's the most selfless and loyal, a man who is genuinely caring towards his fellow Eternals. He dedicates his life to caring for Thena, keeping her company, and helping her navigate her mental illness.

Ser Jorah Mormont is equally devoted to his Khaleesi, eventually sacrificing his life to save her. Gilgamesh shares a similarly tragic fate, further cementing the similarities between both characters. Gilgamesh's relationship with Thena was never romantic, but his commitment to her reminds of Jorah's devotion to Daenerys.

Druig - Daenerys Targaryen

Speaking of the Mother of Dragons, she and Druig have many things in common. In Eternals, Druig is the most aloof member of the team, who disagrees with their passivity concerning human conflicts. He uses his mind manipulation powers to protect a village, effectively turning them into his prisoners.

Like Druig, Daenerys also considers herself the ultimate savior. She thinks she's the only one capable of liberating Westeros, no matter the lines she has to cross. Both Druig and Daenerys consider themselves above "regular" humans and are willing to commit morally questionable decisions to "protect" humankind.

Makkari - Arya Stark

Makkari is the first deaf superhero in the MCU. She is a carefree Eternal and the only one who remained on the ship during the team's centuries-long separation. However, she doesn't think twice before returning to help them after learning what's at stake.

Like Makkari, Arya is a fearsome warrior who will always be there for her family. Arya is considerably more brutal in her kills than Makkari, but they are both absolute heroes who rank among the most powerful members of their respective franchises.

Phastos - Samwell Tarly

Every team needs a strategist, and the Eternals have Phastos. He is the resident inventor whose technology helped humanity progress over the years, much to his eventual chagrin. In a massive win for representation, Phastos is also the first LGBTQ+ superhero in the MCU.

Like Phastos, Samwell Tarly is all about knowledge. He is one of the cleverest characters in the show, eventually studying to become a Maester. He's even capable of healing Jorah's Greyscale after learning the process from the books at the Citadel. Phastos and Sam are also very protective of their families, willing to risk their lives for the sake of their partner and children.

Kingo - Oberyn Martell

Most Eternals avoid the spotlight and prefer leading quiet, private lives, but not Kingo. He craves attention so much that he actually becomes a Bollywood star. When the Eternals reunite, Kingo and his valet, Karun, begin filming a documentary to reveal the team's exploits to the world.

In Westeros, there was no bigger show-off than Oberyn Martell. The Red Viper was a hedonistic man who enjoyed all the pleasures life afforded. They are highly-respected warriors, and Oberyn would've killed the Mountain with no problem had his pride not gotten in the way. For his part, Kingo is one of the most powerful Eternals. They are also rather vain and selfish, but they'll always stand up for their family.

Ajak - Davos Seaworth

SPlit image showing Ajak in Eternals and Davos in GOT

Ajak is the Prime Eternal, the wise and spiritual leader of the team, who can communicate directly with the Celestials. She is a caring mother to the group, looking after them and healing them with her abilities. Ajak also has an immense capacity for empathy that allows her to guide the other Eternals and even forgive them for their mistakes.

Game of Thrones isn't famous for having wholesome parental figures, but Davos Seaworth is the rare exception. He is a wise and level-headed man who's still capable of great empathy. Like Ajak, he loves his children above all else. Both Davos and Ajak are aware of how cruel the world is and the ultimate cost of their respective missions, but they don't allow that carnage to change who they are inside.

Thena - Ser Brienne Of Tarth

Split image showing Thena in Eternals and Brienne in GOT

It's wonderfully ironic that the Goddess of War is one of the story's most compelling characters. Thanks to her ability to create any weapon of her choice using cosmic energy, Thena has some of the best action sequences in Eternals and is arguably the bravest character in the film.

Ser Brienne of Tarth remained one of the most consistent and sympathetic characters on GOT. Like Thena, Brienne is all about duty and honor. She'll fight any battle that requires her assistance, always giving it her all. Thena and Brienne are fearsome, undeterred warriors who keep going no matter the hardship without losing their faith in a higher purpose.

Sersi - Ned Stark

Split image showing Sersi in Eternals and Ned in GOT

Even though Eternals is an ensemble piece, Sersi is the story's de-facto lead, a gentle young woman who can manipulate and transform inanimate matter with her touch. Ajak names her the new Prime Eternal, thanks to the overwhelming love she has for humanity.

Ned is arguably the worst Stark in Game of Thrones. He was too naive to play the game, and at times it feels like Sersi might be the same way. They're both honest, righteous, and full of integrity, standing out above all others thanks to their rectitude. Ned ultimately loses his head because of it, so here's hoping that things end better for Sersi.

Ikaris - Grey Worm

Split image showing Icaris in Eternals and Grey Worm in GOT

Eternals pulls its best twist with Ikaris' character. He is the cold and by-the-books leader of the Eternals who can fly and shoot laser beams out of his eyes. His vast abilities make him one of the most powerful cosmic characters in the larger MCU.

In GOT, Grey Worm was the ultimate soldier. He followed Daenerys' orders to the letter, never questioning whether they were right or wrong. Ikaris is the same way, refusing to go against Arishem's grand design and doing everything in his power to ensure it, even betraying his fellow Eternals. These two are soldiers, first and foremost, sacrificing everything and everyone to fulfill their orders.
