Every MCU Disney+ series has featured post-credits scenes in some capacity, but some of them have yet to pay off. Post-credits scenes have been a staple of the MCU since the very beginning, as they enable the studio to tease the audience with a hint to an upcoming story without detracting from the main plot. Sometimes a post-credits scene is immediately resolved in the next movie, but it often takes years for the suggested storyline to continue, as was the case with post-credit scenes in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Spider-Man: Far From Home, for example.

In addition to the movie teases, there are also MCU Disney+ shows without an immediate payoff following their post-credits scenes. With what’s known about the current slate of MCU movies and TV shows, there are clear clues as to when some post-credits scenes will be built upon, as many upcoming projects are framed in a way that would be a logical continuation of where the shows left off. It isn't as obvious as when others might be followed up on, however, so drawing a conclusion for them will require more guesswork.

Monica Rambeau & The Skrull - Secret Invasion/The Marvels

WandaVision Episode 9 Post-Credits Scene Skrull

The first post-credits scene to be discussed is WandaVision's, specifically the scene involving Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau. After Wanda removed the Hex and SWORD started cleaning up Westview, a Skrull took Monica aside and told her that a friend of her mother, Captain Marvel's Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), wanted to meet with her in space. With the next step of Monica’s story in the MCU involving the Skrulls, it would make sense for that scene to have its payoff in the Disney+ show Secret Invasion, as that will be an adaptation of the comic book story about Skrulls secretly infiltrating Earth to eventually take it over.

However, Monica will also be appearing in The Marvels. This film, set for release next July, will undoubtedly take the titular Marvels, Captain (Brie Larsen) and Ms (Iman Villani), as well as Maria, into space. That could also continue the arc started by Wandavision's post-credits scene, something that’s further supported by there not being any official confirmation of Monica appearing in Marvel's Secret Invasion at this time.

Sharon Carter’s Release - Armor Wars/Captain America 4

Sharon Carter on the phone in Falcon and Winter Soldier

Another post-credits scene that needs its payoff is Sharon Carter’s MCU future following The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In the show’s post-credits scene, Sharon (Emily VanCamp), who was revealed to be the Power Broker responsible for all the conflict in the Disney+ series, is given a full pardon for her actions in Captain America: Civil War and rejoins the CIA. However, she plans to use her newly-acquired CIA resources to increase the scope of her criminal operation.

The upcoming Captain America film, Captain America: New World Order, is set to continue where The Falcon and the Winter Soldier left off, so it makes the most sense for the post-credits scene to be continued there. At the same time, however, Marvel's Armor Wars will be about Tony Stark’s technology being illegally sold to criminals. Since that’s in line with Sharon’s new role as the Power Broker, it would also scan that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's scene is built upon in Armor Wars, and have Sharon be one of the main antagonists of the film.

The Hydra Stomper In The Present - What If…? Season 2

The Hydra Stomper in Marvel's What If...?

On the animated side of things, Marvel’s What If…? features a post-credits scene still in need of a payoff, revolving around the Hydra Stomper appearing in the present MCU timeline. After working with the Guardians of the Multiverse to defeat Infinity Ultron, Captain Carter returned to her universe to discover that the pirates she and her version of Black Widow had been fighting had found the Hydra Stomper with Steve Rogers still alive and inside of it. With What If…? season 2 already in production, it is reportedly the focus of the season 2 premiere (via Slash Film). Therefore, it only comes down to when What If…? season 2 finally premieres.

Jake Lockley Emerges - Moon Knight Season 2

Moon Knight Ending Explained Jake Lockley Post Credits

A post-credits scene with a less obvious route for continuation is Jake Lockley’s (Oscar Isaac) appearance in Moon Knight. While Marc Spector and Steven Grant appeared to have washed their hands of Khonshu by the end of the season, the credits scene revealed the existence of Lockley, a hidden third personality who’s not only far more violent than Marc and Steven but still willing to work with Khonshu.

The existence of Jake Lockley is bound to be addressed the next time the character of Moon Knight appears, but when that might happen is currently unknown at the moment. There has been no confirmation about when, or even if, he’ll appear in any of the films, and while there has been discussion of a potential Moon Knight season 2, that isn't a concrete project yet either.

Captain Marvel Swaps With Ms. Marvel - The Marvels

The post-credits scene that is most likely to be continued the soonest is Captain Marvel swapping places with Ms. Marvel in Ms. Marvel. At the end of Ms. Marvel, Kamala’s bangle suddenly started glowing, and out of nowhere, she disappeared, with Carol Danvers appearing in her place. 2023's The Marvels is when both characters are set to make their next appearances, so it would makes perfect sense for the scene to be resolved there. Following the first look at D23, that appears to already be a major part of the story.

Wong Busts Abomination Out Of Jail - Thunderbolts

Wong rescues Blonsky from prison in She-Hulk season 1

The final post-credits scene still to have its payoff is also the most recent. Wong busted Abomination (Tim Roth) out of jail in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. In the She-Hulk series finale, Emil Blonsky was sent back to jail after it was revealed he had violated his parole by transforming into Abomination to work as a motivational speaker, but Benedict Wong's Wong appeared in Abomination's cell and brought him to Kamar-Taj for unknown reasons.

That scene is bound to be followed up at some point, but as of right now, it’s unknown when Emil is set to appear in the MCU again. The most likely candidate would be Thunderbolts. A movie about a team of former supervillains working for the government would be the perfect way for Abomination to return to the MCU. There’s been no confirmation of Abomination appearing in Thunderbolts at this time, but regardless, it’s the most likely option.
