Thanos' death in Avengers: Endgame is a big moment for the MCU, but it isn't even the most important one. The last eleven years have seen Marvel Studios bring many memorable characters to the big screen. As beloved as they may be, there also comes a time when some of these characters must leave the MCU behind permanently. However, Marvel's shared universe has caught some flack in the past for not being able to do that.

Early on, they appeared to be content "killing" characters only to bring them back in a short amount of time. Loki's faked his death on several occasions, and one of the most significant moments in the MCU was seeing half of the universe disappear at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Those apparent deaths worked at the moment for the characters, but some viewers didn't connect knowing major franchise stars like Black Panther and Spider-Man would surely return.

Avengers: Endgame delivers on that belief, but it also comes at a price with a few prominent characters dying. It even included two different deaths for Thanos, as Thor beheaded the one from the main timeline and the 2014 one was snapped away by Iron Man. Thanos' death is the closing of the Infinity Saga, but Screen Rant's newest video focuses on 25 other MCU deaths that are more important to the epic story than the end of the Mad Titan. Check out the full list of entries in the video at the top of this post.

With so many casualties, each is either important for the overarching story or the arcs of a particular hero. One of the running themes of the list are the deaths of parents or even parental figures. Black Panther's dad T'Chaka, Star-Lord's mother Meredith Quill, Star-Lord's biological father Ego and daddy Yondu, Thor's mom Frigga and dad Odin, and Iron Man's parents Howard and Maria Stark all are incredibly important in the MCU. Then, there are also deaths of heroes like Phil Coulson, Vision and Quicksilver, of villains like Killmonger, Hela, and Obadiah Stane, of mentors like the Ancient One and Abraham Erskine that left an impact.

Even with a list of names as grand as this, there are even more that didn't get mentioned in the video who are more than worthy. Gamora's death in Infinity War was a massive moment for that film and will undoubtedly have a major impact on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in one way or another. Meanwhile, Black Widow sacrificed her life for the Avengers, and Iron Man's death will ring through the MCU for many years to come.
