The latest rumors from Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again Disney+ show suggest Marvel has learned from mistakes made during production of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Marvel Television's old Netflix TV shows met with mixed success; there were tremendous stand-outs, such as the original Daredevil TV show, but these were unfortunately tempted by disappointments like Iron Fist. Some of the casting choices have proved remarkably influential, though, with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin making the jump into the mainstream MCU.

Cox made his triumphant return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, playing Peter Parker's "really good lawyer" - and hinting at Matt Murdock's secret identity, when he effortlessly caught a projectile tossed through a window at Spider-Man. Marvel then decided to tie one superhero lawyer in with another; Daredevil appeared in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, with the character even entering into an unlikely but hilarious romance with the show's lead. He'll now go on to star in his own Disney+ TV show, Daredevil: Born Again. This is currently in pre-production, and the latest rumors suggest Marvel has learned from its mistakes with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

She-Hulk's Writers Room Lacked Any Knowledge Of Law

She-Hulk in Episode 7

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was envisioned as a legal comedy. Unfortunately, the writers' room lacked people with the ability to really make law gripping. Blonsky's trial was originally supposed to span multiple episodes, but according to showrunner Jessica Gao, the team swiftly realized they didn't know how to write "rousing trial scenes." Speaking to Variety, she explained this was why She-Hulk's courtroom scenes lacked any real punch. Even the dynamic between She-Hulk and Daredevil wound up being played for comedy, with the two apparent legal adversaries swiftly becoming lovers instead. The show was heavily criticized for its failure to understand law on even a basic level.

Daredevil's Writers Room Has Hired Some "Really Good Lawyers"

Fortunately, the latest rumors do suggest Marvel has learned from this mistake. There are reports the writers' room for Daredevil: Born Again has recruited David Feige, Thomas Wong, and Zachary Reiter. As noted by The Direct, all three of these writers are accomplished lawyers in their own right. Feige is a former public defender in New York City, and he has experience with legal dramas such as The Firm, Raising the Bar, and For Life; Wong is a well-known attorney who worked on Minority Report, Good Trouble, and Bull; and Reiter, who wrote for Law & Order: Organized Crime, CSI: New York, and The Firm, is a former prosecutor. Star Charlie Cox has said the Daredevil revival will feature more legal scenes, and these reports suggest they should be much better-handled than those seen in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

The best studios learn from their mistakes. Assuming these reports are accurate, then Marvel Studios has recognized some of the key problems with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law; notably the fact its legal aspect was lacking. The studio has recruited a talented group of writers, who have significant experience of the legal system and know how to make courtroom scenes compelling. According to Gao, the limitations of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's writers' room only became clear when they started trying to write those "rousing trial scenes," but this shouldn't be a problem with Daredevil: Born Again. Hopefully that means Daredevil has a bright future in the MCU.
