Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will see Earth's Mightiest Heroes finally face off against the villainous Kang the Conqueror, but many of their ranks may fall before they finally manage to defeat the Multiverse Saga's main antagonist. Just as the Mad Titan Thanos wasn't defeated in the Infinity Saga without taking several Avengers with him, Kang and his malevolent variants aren't likely to spare the lives of any heroes that get in their way of conquering the Multiverse. While truly any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most beloved characters could fall at Kang's hand, there are several who appear to be specially marked for death.

Kang the Conqueror is the MCU's Big Bad for the Multiverse Saga, appearing in various forms and faces all across the many realities of the Multiverse. Jonathan Majors first portrayed the variant He Who Remains in the season finale of Loki, but now is about to make his debut as the true Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, kicking off Phase 5 of the MCU with a bang. Throughout Phases 5 and 6, Kang is expected to appear in multiple films and multiple variants of himself until finally facing Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the two-part finale event: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

10 Ant-Man

paul rudd as scott lang aka ant-man in quantumania

Many theories suggest that Scott Lang will meet his end in Quantumania. Ant-Man's death would repeat a key Infinity War moment replacing Loki's tragic death at the hands of Thanos as the first major casualty in Avengers' next big battle. The trailers for Quantumania seem to back up the notion that Scott will meet his end, as he appears bruised and desperate in several shots therein. Even if he does survive his first bout with Kang, things don't look good for Scott in The Kang Dynasty, where the Conqueror will certainly want to even the score, signaling that Paul Rudd's time in the MCU may be coming to an end.

9 Hank Pym

michael douglas as hank pym in ant-man 3

While many theories contend that Ant-Man may die in his upcoming MCU appearance, Quantumania's trailers may be hiding Hank Pym's death as well. The brilliant scientist and the original Ant-Man has narrowly avoided death on several occasions in the franchise, but his luck may be running out. He and his family will become trapped in the Quantum Realm during the events of Quantumania, and it seems unlikely that they will all escape alive. This would also work in favor of the franchise since Hank is a big enough character for his death to be impactful but not so big that his presence would be missed in The Kang Dynasty.

8 Thor

Thor: Love and Thunder: Thor (Chris Hemsworth) stands in Eternity's pool, staring at Gorr the God Butcher

Chris Hemsworth's recent comments about finding the perfect timing to exit the MCU may lead to Thor sacrificing his life in The Kang Dynasty, laying down his life much in the same way that his friend Tony Stark did to defeat Thanos. Thor has spent much of his MCU arc trying to find himself and has only proved successful when alongside the people that he loves. Therefore, his perfect MCU ending would be to sacrifice his own life in battle so that the other Avengers can live to fight another day. Killing Thor would also display Kang's true power, as he defeats one of the strongest Avengers of all time.

7 Hawkeye

Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in MCU

Hawkeye may be nearing his impending doom at the hands of Kang the Conqueror. While it is unclear which future MCU projects Hawkeye will return in, he is certain to be featured in some of the films and series comprising the Multiverse War to come. However, having already passed his mantle of Hawkeye down to Kate Bishop, Clint Barton's next appearance will almost certainly be his last, whether he survives or not. However, as one of the longest-serving Avengers in the MCU, it may be more impactful for audiences to see Clint killed off tragically, giving the other heroes a reason to fight Kang in the fifth Avengers film.

6 War Machine

Don Cheadle as Rhodey in his War Machine armor

Don Cheadle's James Rhodes, a.k.a. the War Machine, may also be approaching the end of his MCU tenure. War Machine's Armor Wars film will finally give the Avenger a leading role in the MCU after over a decade of acting as a supporting character in the franchise but may also signal that Marvel is looking to wrap up his storyline in the coming years. The increased attention that the Multiverse Saga is paying to Rhodey could set him up to be among Kang's victims during The Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars. Especially as Cheadle's contract reaches its end, these may be the final projects to feature the War Machine.

5 Janet Van Dyne

Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne looking scared in Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania.

Janet van Dyne will face Kang in Quantumania, but she may survive the encounter. Certain MCU theories suggest that Janet worked for Kang during her time in the Quantum Realm, likely making her an enemy of the Conqueror when she managed to escape the interdimensional prison without him. Now that the two are set to be reunited, Kang may take the opportunity for revenge against Janet. Van Dyne's potential death in Quantumania would prove especially tragic given that she only recently was able to reunite with her family after spending decades trapped in the Quantum Realm and would be a truly dismal way to end the normally upbeat Ant-Man franchise.

4 Wong

Wong walking through a portal

Phase 4 saw Wong surprisingly take control over the sorcerers of Khamer-Taj, but Doctor Strange's fate as Sorcerer Supreme may foreshadow Wong's death. Benedict Wong's character has become beloved over his many appearances throughout the MCU, especially in projects like Shang-Chi and She-Hulk. However, his continued reign as Sorcerer Supreme seems to act as a roadblock for Doctor Strange's apparent storyline, which could mean that Wong must die in order for Strange to reach his true potential as the leader of the sorcerers once more. Wong's promotion may serve to save Doctor Strange's life if Kang comes searching for the Sorcerer Supreme as a part of his conquest.

3 Uatu The Watcher

The Watcher's eyes glow as his mouth opens in shock in Marvel's What If...?

Kang's conquest may require the deaths of powerful beings from outside Earth-616, including Uatu the Watcher. What If...? introduced the powerful Watcher, who observes the happenings of every universe but has sworn an oath never to intervene. Major Marvel Comics events usually include the Watcher in some way as a device to alert readers to just how important the events that are about to transpire really are. The MCU can subvert this trend, however, by having Kang kill Uatu as a part of his Multiversal conquest, wishing for no one to have the knowledge of his strategies and battle plans that a Celestial observer like the Watcher likely would.

2 Scarlet Witch

The Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) menacingly conjures a spell as the image of the Darkhold sets in around her.

Although she appeared to die at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Scarlet Witch's MCU return is inevitable--though she may not have many appearances left before her true demise. As one of the most powerful beings in the MCU, Wanda Maximoff is one of the greatest threats to Kang's conquest, especially given the prophecy contending that she will one day rule the Multiverse. Kang would certainly want to get the Scarlet Witch out of his way early, though even he may not be powerful enough to do so. Nevertheless, dispatching Wanda would certainly set Kang up to be a colossal threat to the other Avengers.

1 Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange prepares to die in Avengers Infinity War

Doctor Strange has been described as the "anchor" of the Multiverse Saga in much the same way that Tony Stark was for the Infinity Saga. As such, Strange may meet the same tragic fate as his predecessor when Kang finally comes. Although Doctor Strange is oddly missing from Phase 5, he is certain to have a major impact on the final projects in the Multiverse Saga. However, his wholehearted devotion to stopping Kang may spell his own demise in the process, as he is forced to follow in Stark's footsteps in order to save the Multiverse. Strange's death would certainly underline the emotional havoc apparent in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
