Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige expressed excitement about casting Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the MCU’s Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and possibly Black Widow. Louis-Dreyfus is, of course, well-known for portraying Elaine Benes in all nine seasons of the highly influential sitcom Seinfeld. After this historic run, she later began another on HBO's political satire Veep, as the sitcom’s lead Selina Meyer. Throughout her career (but mainly for these two previous roles) Louis-Dreyfus has been nominated for a staggering 25 Emmy awards, including 11 wins.

Most recently, Louis-Dreyfus made a shocking appearance on the Disney+ series starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. Louis-Dreyfus made her surprise MCU debut as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the penultimate episode of the series, titled “Truth.” The character presented herself as an ally to John Walker (Wyatt Russell), offering him the role of US Agent, essentially a morally corrupt version of Captain America. Since Louis-Dreyfus’ appearance was so brief, it is assumed it was for the purposes of planting the seeds for a future return.

Now, in an interview with ET, Marvel head Kevin Feige expressed his excitement about the “dream casting” of Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina: "That was a dream come true for us. We are lucky that these amazing talents are joining the MCU. Not the other way around.” When Feige was asked about Louis-Dreyfus reprising her role, he joked, “You should ask Alfred Molina."

Feige’s quip is a reference to a recent interview in which Molina revealed he will be reprising his role as Doc Ock in the upcoming MCU film Spider-Man: No Way Home, an admission which flew in the face of Marvel's strict policy of secrecy. While Feige was tight-lipped about Val returning for future MCU installments, previous reports suggested that Marvel has big plans for the character.

These reports claim that Louis-Dreyfus’ character was originally going to debut in Black Widow, but schedule reshuffling caused by the COVID-19 pandemic prevented this from happening. There is still a good chance Val makes an appearance in Black Widow, especially since the character has heavy ties to Russian spies in the comics. With Natasha Romanoff’s first solo outing releasing in theaters on July 9, it won’t be long until fans find out if Louis-Dreyfus' second MCU appearance after Falcon and The Winter Soldier is Black Widow.
