However, with the new The Falcon and the Winter Soldier show on Disney+, fans of the duo got to see their relationship evolve. This meant a lot of heartfelt moments where Bucky and Sam got to let their feelings loose. Now being partners, they started to develop a worthwhile friendship that put the hateful moments behind them.

Hated: Sam Getting Rid Of Spider-Man

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Iron Man brings in his secret weapon, Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man). Spider-Man proves to be quite useful as he uses his webs and agility to take on Sam and Bucky. His webs bind Sam's upper torso and restrain Bucky's prosthetic arm.

Sam uses his Redwing to latch onto Spider-Man and send him away. This was a clear moment of disgruntlement and hate for Bucky and Sam, as Bucky says, "You couldn't have done that earlier?" To which Sam responds, "I hate you." In reality, Sam is only helping Bucky for the sake of Steve, who wants to save his best friend and believes that he's right.

Friends: The Wizard Debate

Sam and Bucky's arguments in the Disney+ show border between having a distaste for each other and best friend goals. In episode two, Sam is going to get information about the new Flag Smashers group. Sam explains he thinks it's a part of the 'Big 3.' Bucky has no idea what he's talking about and they get into an argument.

Sam explains the big three are aliens, androids, and wizards. Bucky doesn't believe it to be true and even makes fun of Sam saying, “So Who Are You Fighting Now… Gandalf?” This jab leads to Sam asking how he knows The Hobbit. It's easy, Bucky read it - in 1937. While it may be an argument, it's comical to see these grown men discuss wizards and one of pop culture's most influential books.

Hated: The Seat Issue

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier tension rise between Sam and Bucky. They've now considered outlaws and fugitives which Sam isn't too happy about. Steve calls in a favor from Sharon Carter.

As they smooch and talk, Bucky asks in a grim tone if Sam can move his seat up. Sam couldn't care less and tells Bucky no. Upset, Bucky just slides to the opposite side of the seat. At this point, it seemed the only reason they were friends was because of Steve. It's clear that Steve has more faith in Bucky's innocence than Sam. Sam would rather keep his guard up.

Friends: Bucky Trusted Sam Talking To Karli

As The Falcon and the Winter Soldier went on, Sam starts to find some reason behind Karli's motivation to change the world to how it was before the Blip. Sam is convinced that he can try to reason with her and talk it out. This scene is important in the development and Sam and Bucky's relationship.

Bucky trusts that Sam can talk to Karli and have a civil conversation instead of fighting and causing casualties. When John Walker finds them, he tries to ambush Karli and stop Sam. Bucky is the one to push Walker back and instills some faith that Sam can get the job done. It says a lot that despite having his guard up against Sam, Bucky trusts him going against a super-soldier.

Hated: The Plane Fiasco

Bucky and Sam's friendship was rocky in the first couple of episodes in the show. After they argue about wizards, they get on a plane to reach their destination. This scene leads to another reason why they really hated each other or immensely disliked.

They give each other cold stares before Bucky asks what Sam's plan is. Bucky gets peeved that there is no plan and tells Sam he can't call him "Buck." It's clear that Bucky dislikes Sam's inability to form a plan instead of just relying on a sheer whim. Bucky unsuccessfully jumps out of the airplane and lands on the forest floor. It irks Bucky more when Sam gloats that he caught the fall on camera.

Friends: Shield Training

As Bucky and Sam's friendship progresses, fans were happy to see them getting along in the training montage in episode five. Sam and Bucky finally have an understanding of the legacy of the shield. Outside Sam's and his sister's home, Bucky and Sam throw around the shield at trees.

All the while they have heart to heart about what a Black man holding the shield symbolized. The shield symbolized the only family Bucky had left after Steve. Sam and Bucky finally have a mutual ground that surpasses the obligations of the shield. Sam also gives Bucky words of advice of not letting others tell him who he is.

Hated: The Therapist Blow Up

Fans can agree that Bucky letting loose the flood gates during his and Sam's therapy session had them emotional. Bucky has had a long and hard history compared to the other Avengers and Sam. Bucky had resentment towards Sam for giving up the shield. The therapy session showed the issues they had towards each other.

Bucky wanted to know why Sam gave up the shield that Steve trusted him with and was Steve's whole legacy. Bucky emotionally says that if Steve was wrong about Sam then he was wrong about him. Sam retaliates that he did what he thought was right and it was something Steve or Bucky might never understand. The scene showed just how much they were affected by their personal issues, which formed into hate towards each other.

Friends: Helping Hand & Mystery Box

When Sam's not trying to stop Karli, he's back home trying to fix his family's boat. Bucky visits and tells Sam that he asked for a favor from Wakanda and hands him a box. It's nice to know that Bucky wanted Sam to have a new and improved suit that fit his new role.

When Sam can't stop a pipe from leaking, Bucky shows him how to do it. This montage starts their progression into getting over their differences. They even have the cliché 'bro' moment where Sam warns Bucky about flirting with his sister or he'll be fed to the fish. They start feeling more at ease with each other.

Hated: The Shoot-Out

Bucky, Sam and Sharon shooting in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Bucky, Sam, Zemo, and Sharon find the location of the scientist who fabricated the supersoldier serum that Karli and her crew use. The scene leads to a shoot-out as they are ambushed by villains. During the shoot-out, there was a moment where Sam and Bucky really disliked each other and got into an argument.

Bucky screams at Sam that he thought they were going to go left and Sam yells back that Bucky went the wrong way. Even in dire situations, these two can't hold in their tension. Sam and Bucky get so invested in their small spat that even Sharon gets annoyed at them while they're getting shot at. It's not exactly the best of friends moment.

Friends: Sam's Monologue & Party

After Sam takes up the mantel as a new Captain America, he talks to government officials over what they've been doing horribly wrong. Also why Karli resorted to the actions she committed to go back to before the Blip. The monologue said something about how Bucky has come to see Sam as a real and genuine hero that the world needs.

As Sam teaches everyone a valuable lesson about what's right, Bucky looks at him proudly. Afterward, Bucky makes a joke that he was texting but tells Sam, "Good job, Cap." A display of Bucky accepting Sam taking up Steve's role as a symbol. The show ends with Bucky becoming part of Sam's family and taking part in their celebration and hanging out with others. Sam has become Bucky's new family that he longed to have and a sense of normalcy.
