The Marvel Cinematic Universe could use Blade to deliver a big Doctor Strange twist by introducing his brother. Plans for the Blade movie have moved slowly since Mahershala Ali was cast in 2019. The film is meant to be part of Marvel Studios' efforts to explore more supernatural characters and stories, which has become more prominent with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Werewolf by Night. The eventual arrival of Blade will be where vampires finally take center stage in an MCU story after years of teases about their existence.

Marvel Studios' secrecy surrounding Blade's story and setting has left room for speculation to grow about how the movie could connect to the wider MCU. It is one of the final films in Phase 5 before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty releases. However, Mahershala Ali's Blade could encounter some other MCU heroes before that film. Blade's place in the supernatural corner of the franchise creates a way for characters like Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, Elsa Bloodstone, Black Knight, and more to appear potentially. Ali's character could have histories with many of them, but a Doctor Strange twist could also be in the cards.

Blade Could Introduce Doctor Strange’s Vampire Brother

Blade and Doctor Strange

It is possible that Marvel Studios will use Blade to introduce Doctor Strange's brother, who becomes a vampire. Doctor Strange's brother Victor Strange debuted in the comics in 1989. Victor tragically passed away after being hit by a car shortly after the death of his and Stephen's parents. Stephen kept his body in cryogenic sleep until he became a sorcerer and attempted to use his Doctor Strange magic to bring him back. What Doctor Strange did not know is that he accidentally used the Vampiric Verse to turn Victor into a vampire, bringing him back to life years later once the cryogenic chamber stopped working.

Doctor Strange's brother could make a surprise debut in Blade as a way to give the MCU another vampire who is tied to an existing character. Victor Strange temporarily takes on the Baron Blood mantle in the comics when he is under the control of a powerful sorceress seeking the Darkhold known. The return of the original Baron Blood eventually leads Victor to abandon the name and act as a vigilante called Khiron. Once the usual bloodlust that comes with being a vampire grows, Victor killed the criminals he encountered to stay alive. It is possible Doctor Strange's brother could be someone Eric Brooks encounters in Blade then.

Baron Blood In Blade Could Help The MCU’s Midnight Sons Setup

Doctor Strange's brother appearing in Blade and the vampire twist happening could be a way for the MCU to continue its Midnight Sons setup. The supernatural Avengers-level team is widely thought of as being part of Marvel's long-term plans based on the various characters associated with the team that have been introduced so far. Victor Strange's appearance in Blade could be Marvel's chance to have Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange cameo in the solo movie, ensuring a meeting between him and Mahershala Ali's Blade.

Once Doctor Strange and Blade have met in the MCU, the Midnight Sons team could begin to form more quickly. Blade is already familiar with Black Knight after Eternals' post-credits scene, while Doctor Strange knows supernatural heroes like Wong and Clea. Either of them could then be part of recruiting more team members, such as Moon Knight, Man-Thing, Ghost Rider, and others. Marvel could even continue Blade's Doctor Strange brother twist by making the vampiric Victor Strange part of the team.
