The announcement of a TV series centering around Wakanda, the country introduced in Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an intriguing prospect. It is expected to arrive on Disney+ as part of the MCU’s push toward expanding the universe to the small screen.

Despite Black Panther featuring the country in its entirety, Wakanda is still a rather mysterious place since quite a lot of things about it have gone unexplained. The TV series is the best way to clear out these doubts since it will have the benefit of an episodic format to fully map Wakanda out, and certain things really do need to be confirmed.

What The State Of The Country Was After The Snap

Wakanda wasn’t shown at all in Avengers: Endgame, with its only appearance a glimpse through a portal in the Battle of Earth. The TV series can fill in the gap of the country’s status during the five-year stretch that T’Challa was missing.

There needs to be an explanation as to how Wakanda functioned not only without its king but from the massive fallout from the Battle of Wakanda that was seen in Avengers: Infinity War. With so many losses suffered, it has to be explained how the country managed to stand back up again.

The Difference T'Challa's Decision Has Made On The Country

Chadwick Boseman as King T'Challa in Black Panther

T’Challa’s experiences in Black Panther made him realize that Wakanda had to open its borders, with his last line in the movie showing his intention to announce Wakanda’s true nature. The effect of this has never been explained, though, as Avengers: Infinity War only made a passing mention.

The TV series can take a good look into how the change in Wakanda’s principles have affected the country, with potential expatriates integrated into society and how they have coexisted with the Wakandans. There’s also fact that Wakanda openly trading with others should have made a difference in the way the entire world worked.

The History Of The Dora Milaje

Dora Milaje Stand Guard

The Dora Milaje were shown assisting Black Panther in his battles but they haven’t been fleshed out on their own as of yet. Black Panther established them as his guard, yet their history is still known only through trivia points and references.

The TV series should take a look into the history of this group and how they came to be. It should also explain the rules the Dora Milaje need to follow, along with the process of proving one to be fit into being included in this group.

Their Military Strategies And Weapons

Wakandans charge for battle in Black Panther

This is an area that Black Panther II needs to improve upon as well, as the military strategy of Wakanda is extremely confusing. It’s unclear exactly what strategic points the War Dogs are placed in and just what comprises Wakanda's weaponry.

In Avengers: Infinity War, the Wakandans seemed very behind-the-times as they went to war with Thanos’ forces using spears and next to no artillery and armory. The TV series needs to explain just how Wakanda goes about in times of war, with clarification over what weapons they have at their disposal.

How Vibranium Is Synthesized

Vibranium in the MCU

A lot was said in Black Panther that had to do with references to Vibranium. However, there wasn’t much explanation given to how Vibranium was adapted into the many forms it was seen in during the movie, including holograms and information technology.

With the TV series giving a deeper look at the country, Vibranium should be the focal point and how it is useful in the daily lives of the people. The most important thing to portray is how the element is converted into so many forms since it’s currently difficult to understand how it works.

The Social Classes Of Wakanda

The Black Panther And His Army Go To Battle In Wakanda

There have to be some people in Wakanda who aren’t all that well off since the economy wouldn’t make sense if everyone is supposed to be rich. More so than that, the TV series should explain what social classes look like in the country.

It was shown in Black Panther that some people were considered to have higher levels of respect than others, meaning there have to be different classes as well. By fleshing this aspect out, the series can carve out the outlook of the Wakandan lifestyle and how it stands.

The Nature Of All The Different Tribes And The Extent Of Their Independence

M'Baku sits on his throne in Black Panther

The tribes in Black Panther got the least amount of screentime, with the most exposition about them given in the introductory moments of the movie. The tribes have been divided into activities they excel in, such as the Border Tribe, Mining Tribe, Merchant Tribe, and River Tribe.

However, it’s not known how they go about their activities on an independent basis since having expertise in just one area means they lack in others. The TV series should explain how dependent these tribes are on the Wakandan government at large and the way they’ve existed in their independent nature.

What Became Of Those Who Opposed T'Challa

Black Panther has been lauded for changing superhero movies by paving the way for new forms of storytelling. And yet, there are still gaps in the plot, with stuff like the status of those that opposed T’Challa still being up in the air years later.

The TV series can show what the rules of Wakanda state need to be done for those that committed treason, along with how T’Challa specifically broached this subject since he had different views. It would go a long way in confirming the justice system of Wakanda.

What The Influence Of The Black Panther Is On Wakanda

Black Panther

It was revealed that T’Challa had become the next Black Panther already by Captain America: Civil War, as he was stated to have taken on the mantle in 2009. The general understanding of this role is to be the protector of Wakanda, although it’s not clear what his role is in the country’s establishment.

Considering the Black Panther has been part of T’Challa’s family for a long time, with most of them being kings, it’s debatable as to how the hero is recognized by the country. The TV series will definitely make reference to Black Panther, so it should look into explaining if Wakanda officially acknowledges his role or not.

How Wakandan Succession Is Supposed To Work

Angela Bassett Ramonda Black Panther Wakanda

This was made confusing in Black Panther due to the tribes supposedly having a right to challenge the new king, which throws doubt over why T’Challa was groomed for the role if he could’ve easily lost his claim through a fight. It’s become even more peculiar due to T’Challa’s death in Avengers: Infinity War, as it’s not known who became king then.

The TV series can confirm in absolute terms how succession is supposed to work, and if challenging the king also has certain rules attached to it. Not to mention clearing up doubts over who will take the throne if the current king is not there to fill the position.
