The Marvel Cinematic Universe keeps growing, introducing new and exciting places with each new adventure. Some of these destinations are idyllic paradises, advanced havens that seem taken out of a fantasy novel. However, others are dangerous and outright terrifying worlds inhabited by menaces of all kinds. The movies' beloved superheroes explore them, giving audiences a hint of what it would be like to visit them.

Places like Asgard are atop most fans' wishlist of destinations they'd like to visit. Other locations, like Jotunheim, are off-limits. But the MCU keeps surprising fans by adding jaw-dropping cities, countries, and even planets to its ever-expanding universe.

Wouldn't Like To Visit: Knowhere

Guardians Galaxy Knowhere Ego Brain

Knowhere is a haven for outlaws located inside the head of a dead Celestial. The Tivan group sent a group of miners to extract the organic matter inside the skull. Later, the place became the refuge for several bandits and criminals around the galaxy. The Collector lives in Knowhere, keeping his collection of exotic artifacts there.

In the words of Peter Quill, Knowhere sucks. It isn't a place for sightseeing, but rather a dangerous and chaotic venue for only the worst of the worst in the galaxy. It's best to keep a safe distance from it.

Would Like To Visit: Xandar

A wide shot of Xandar during the day

In comparison, Xandar seems like a pretty good place to live. As the capital of the Nova Empire, it is home to many people, and it apparently has a population of 12 billion. Xandar seems like an advanced and peaceful place, although it suffers its fair share of destruction throughout its time in the MCU.

Xandar featured prominently in Guardians of the Galaxy. In Infinity War, Thor mentions that Thanos decimated the planet searching for the Power Stone, but hopefully, the Xandarians will be able to rebuild as they do in the comics.

Wouldn't Like To Visit: Ego's Planet

Ego the Living Planet looking at the Guardians spaceship

Ego fashions his planet to seem idyllic and beautiful, a paradise in every sense of the word. However, the truth is more sinister, and his homeworld is a trap designed to lure and eventually kill everyone that steps in. There's also the disturbing fact that Ego is his planet, and that makes things even weirder.

Besides the obvious dangers, Ego's planet is confined and solitary. There's no one other than him and Mantis, and she implies that he sleeps a lot of the time. Her existence on the planet must've been very depressing before the Guardian's arrival.

Would Like To Visit: The Farm

Thanos's cabin in the middle of the wild in The Farm

Thanos's plan for the universe is somewhat nonsensical. Still, he accomplishes it and then retreats to a quiet and distant planet he calls "The Farm." Captain Marvel describes it as having "no satellites, no ships, no armies, no ground defenses of any kind." Indeed, when the camera pans over the planet, it looks like a paradise, untouched by colonization.

The Farm looks like the perfect place to relax. Its solitude might drive some to the edge, and there would surely be some threats lurking in the wilderness. However, for those adventurers who don't mind a bit of peace and quiet, the Farm is the perfect place.

Wouldn't Like To Visit: Sokovia

An aerial shot of Sokovia during the day

Even before its destruction in Age of Ultron, Sokovia is already a damaged country. Zemo describes it as being "a failed state long before (the Avengers) blew it to hell." Flashbacks on Age of Ultron and WandaVision portray it as a war-torn country living under constant attacks.

After Ultron and the Avengers destroy its capital, the neighboring countries absorb Sokovia's remainders, effectively erasing it from existence. By the time Bucky and Sam break Zemo out of jail, the only thing that remains is a memorial commemorating Ultron's victims.

Would Like To Visit: Avengers Facility

An aerial shot of Avengers Compound during the day

After Ultron's attack, and following the traumatic events of Captain America: Civil War, Tony sells Avengers Tower and moves everything to the New Avengers Facility in upstate New York. Just as advanced but more militaristic than the Tower, the new Avengers Compound would become the team's base of operations until its destruction at the end of Endgame.

Anyone would like to visit the Avengers headquarters, and the compound seems large enough to house a tourist area without disrupting the team. For many, it would be the closest thing to feeling like an actual Avenger, making it a dream come true.

Wouldn't Like To Visit: Sakaar

An aerial shot of Sakaar during the day

At first sight, Sakaar seems like the ultimate destination. A place of libertinage, freedom, leisure, and fun, the planet seemingly thrives under the tyrannic rule of the Grandmaster. It only takes a closer look to understand that Sakaar is not the paradise it promises but a dangerous trap with an almighty grip.

Valkyrie describes Sakaar as "the perfect place to drink, and to forget, and to die, one day." Indeed, the planet seems like the destination for those who no longer care. What's worse, its inhabitants are the property of the Grandmaster, quite literally. That's a big no-no.

Would Like To Visit: Asgard

A wide shot of Asgard

Asgard is a Kingdom of myth, so, of course, everyone would like to visit. Peaceful and mighty, Asgard has an ancient vibe to it, mixing elements from the Roman Empire and medieval kingdoms. It also has the protection of Thor himself, which is always great.

The Kingdom doesn't survive its encounter with Hela, and Asgard falls to the power of Surtur. Its surviving inhabitants relocate to Earth and establish another monarchy, appropriately named New Asgard, this time under the rule of Valkyrie. And even though it's now on Earth, New Asgard still looks like a perfect place to visit.

Wouldn't Like To Visit: Madripoor

A shot of Madripoor in Falcon and Winter Soldier

Introduced in the recently released The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Madripoor is an insular city located in Southeast Asia. Lawless and chaotic, Madripoor is so alienated that it almost exists in a vacuum, establishing a particular and dangerous ruling system.

The Powerbroker, later revealed to be Sharon Carter, rules the island with fear and intimidation. Madripoor is one of those places people know about, but no one dares to go to unless they have businesses there. And judging by the glances of the city shown in FatWS, it truly is a place where only the ruthless survive.

Would Like To Visit: Wakanda

Black Panther's nation of Wakanda.

The African Kingdom is the MCU's ultimate destination. Awe-inspiring and advanced in nearly every way, Wakanda guarded its secret weapon, vibranium, and supremacy with jealousy. For years, it stayed away from the global scene, hiding under its protective dome.

Wakanda is a force to be reckoned with, able to withstand Thanos' first invasion. It's also home to some of the most brilliant minds in the MCU and holds multiple scientific advancements that would put most others countries in ridicule. On top of that, it has plenty of green spaces, where the beautiful African flora and fauna can thrive.
